Probably won't be too many people responding to this. The forums are pretty dead these days. The servers get less traffic as well. Traffic started tapering off around 2018. DM still does plenty of business, but no one ever plays on Vanilla or Railz anymore like they used to. The greatest bestest dude who ever lived, Quadz, who was the owner, operator, CEO, head tech support, genius guru, and white wizard of the mountain of Tastyspleen, sadly passed away in July of 2021. We also got news not too long ago (Feb 2025) that Pepp, a longtime regular at Tastyspleen, passed away. So that answers #2 and part of #1.

Me personally, I very very rarely play Q2 anymore. My old Win7 box that I played Q2 with slowly fell apart piece by piece. First the monitor failed, then the bearings in the tiny fan on the video card wore out and started making horrible noise, and then finally the mechanical HDD failed. I have a newer little mini-ATX Win10 gaming box now, 1080p 27" Benq Zowie TN panel gaming monitor that can pull 160hz, GTX 1660 Super video card. It's not a newer Win11 box with an RTX video card, but it runs 1080p stuff like GTA5 pretty well and thats good enough for me at the moment.

Somewhere along the line, you know, you frag or shame a player who feels they are better than you and they take such offense that the all their weaknesses come out. These are the kind of people who shouldn't be allowed to be around children or small animals. The pushing someone toward suicide online thing is kind of ugly though. I've got dozens of these interactions. I think it would make a good bunch of reddit posts.

It's been almost nearly an entire decade since I last was on this site and played around with quake 2. I was scrolling through some old files I had on my laptop and saw some old screenshots I had saved of duels I had done back in 2013. Figured I would pop by and see what's up! I also play a lot of counter strike 2 if anybody ever wants to queue and play.

Here are some questions I got:

1) How often do peeps still play quake 2?
2) what the hell has happened the past 10 years because time seems to fly older you get
3) how is your day/week?

Was there really no score board shown at the end of every map complex in the original vanilla version, even tho the screen holds still until you click the mouse to continue (like in Quake1)? And did the developers really didn't patch this with one of the many OFFICIAL patches THEY released back then? Because it is really hard for me to believe that a well rounded company like id, would make such amateurish mistakes upon release and then not even fix it afterwards.

Hey everybody,

I got two questions regarding Quake 4:

1. Is there a way to permenatly save the "pm_speed command" to the configfile (or anywhere else) so I don't have to put it in manually everytime I die?

2. Is there a way to fixate the weapon so that it won't move around when I stand still or walk?
