Trouble Shooting / Re: New MB/CPU/Ram Now win7 won't boot!
« on: July 11, 2011, 06:39:52 AM »
Welcome to the world of Sandybridge!!! I couldn't be happier with my setup. Once you get everything running good then the fun of overclocking begins :) I have mine running prime stable at 4.6ghz right now with my 2600K. You should easily be able to hit 4+ on stock cooling even with the 2500K. If your Asus MB is anything like mine it should have an auto-overclock feature that will allow it to overclock its self to over 4 without a problem. Just go back and double check the voltages it applies to the CPU, if your happy there then you can leave it or go further.

As far as the issue you had with install, from what I gather is you just moved the hard drive over without a fresh install and that very well could have caused the problem with the different SATA port speeds. I have seen hard drive moves like that cause a wide range of problems. Anytime I swap motherboards I do a clean install. As Vae said there should be no problem running a sata2 drive in a sata3 port.

Derv,

Will there be a stats print out for this IR500 like some of the ones in the past?

Trouble Shooting / High Ping Times to Tastyspleen Servers in Dallas
« on: February 03, 2011, 07:00:13 PM »
I haven't played in a while, but I tried to play the last few nights and I noticed that there seems to be an issue with routing to the Tastyspleen servers in Dallas. I ping fine to the IR servers, however one hop within Level3 right before the handoff to SOFTLAYER spikes up when destined for the Tastyspleen servers. Only one ip in my tracert is different between the 2 servers other than the destination IP and it seems to be hitting a different interface on the same box (edge2.Dallas3.Level3.net). I was wondering if you guys could have SOFTLAYER investigate to try and see what is up. It has been going on in the evenings for atleast the last few nights that I know of.

Here are my 2 trace routes:

I actually use Giganews as the provider and use a program called NINAN for downloading. Ninan will download, parcheck, and unrar all files you download. NINAN relies on .nzb files which basically tell it where to download the files from. I use one of 2 .nzb search engines out there http://nzbmatrix.com/ or http://www.newzbin.com/. Basically I search for a file and then click on the .nzb file... it then downloads the file and when it is done it is completely extracted. The days of downloading tons and tons of headers are over.

Newsgroups are where its at. Giganews has 838 days of binary retention now a days. That means anything uploaded in over the last 2 years I can get at my full internet connection speed. Better privacy, no client to client connections, and my download speed isn't dependant on how many people are seeding the files. Win win!!

Trouble Shooting / Re: Connecting to MY server
« on: October 29, 2010, 06:38:05 AM »
If he's a real joker,  he probably didn't even change the default password.

Just look up the router brand/model to see what it is and give it a go.
http://www.routerpasswords.com/index.asp seems to be a good reference,  but trust the makers site for %100 accuracy.

What he said, if that doesm't work there should be a a tiny button in the back or pinhole type area to reset the router to factory settings, this will in turn reset the router login info to default as well.

i rail on par with vigi, he has ping advantage over me thats it :) last ir500 i got in top 10 quite easily, mostly not trying, and ive improved a LOT since then

if you want some one whose reputation doesnt match up, look at yourself and vigi, ive never been impressed by vigi, hes mostly ping

i wont play you guys cause you annoy the fuck out of me with your arrogance, and it just keeps gettin worse the more you open your mouths... ive beat vigi, not just in frags but in fph :) its not like im afraid to lose, i can and would win, maybe not every round like i do with everyone else but oh well, the thing is i just REALLY dont like you guys and would rather not put up with it

Lol, put up with our arrogance? Read your statement jackass, I rail as good as vigi, easily in the top 10, mostly not even trying. Pot meet kettle... The only time I ever talk shit is when an aliasing little prick like your self gets on a server talking shit. Then I say ok lets play, and yet you keep running your mouth, never readying up. Hell we could of had some 2v2's going tonight, but no your dumb ass wouldn't ready up, basically wasting everyone's time on the server, so we all left your dumb ass alone and went and played some at the other server and had some good games. You still don't seem to get the idea of playing to have fun, hell you think I care what teammates I have on a team game? No I don't, I would rather atleast play a game instead of listening to little panzies like your self whine about shit. Either play or STFU when your on a server. You might not be thought of as a jackass if you did.

Vigi ended up spending most of the round in the fucking oven on vendm4 where you can see 2-3 spawns easily and shoot people on the floor over and over while being unapproachable from 5 of 6 possible directions.

:lolsign: vigi, all the hallmarks of a great player. ROTFLMAO

Alpha, all the hallmarks of a great Troll. Your emoticon is actually quite appropriate for you. Maybe I'll just start refering to you as Ashtar Jr.

Well how about a huge over sized carena map with 30 plus spawn pads and more rocks?  :)

railz / Re: iR500 - Coming Soon!
« on: September 17, 2010, 09:47:30 AM »

In the one IR500 that this happened the least, multiple people spent a week reconfiguring the spawnpoints on the map to minimize the effect, and Vigi ended up spending most of the round in the fucking oven on vendm4 where you can see 2-3 spawns easily and shoot people on the floor over and over while being unapproachable from 5 of 6 possible directions.

Lol, that just sounds like good map control to me. Best way to get more frags is to stay alive, you can't get frags while you are dead or trying to respawn. And if there is only one way for someone to approach you, you will not get shot in the back or from the side.  :afro:

Just because 30 people are playing it doesn't mean you shouldn't try to play smart.
