Woah,  that’s awesome.

Dm7 is one of my least favorite dm maps, probably because there is no railgun.  Nice to see it spruced up.

Could definitely see popping this up on the dm server to see how the crowds like it.

I am still hunting for an opportunity of massive play test for this map.
Do some preparations before announce it.

I've tried to focus on keep the feel of q2dm7 and bring extra dynamics into it.
Therefore original weapon setup with (no rail and chaingun) is also there, BUT!

I know what you mean by (map with no rail feelings) and i've ADDED "secret" rail/chain spot (similar to rail/bfg at q2dm2) to this map.
It is not available on start and depends on intensity of pressing the button =)

All details i will try to provide here a bit later through map overview video on YT.

Starting as a joke for a #blocktober event and then shaped into real project
Currently i have active gameplay testing phase and map is nearly done.

NOTE! Recommended for Q2Pro, R1Q2 and Q2RTX clients.

Instructions:

to play Saint Pygidium
1. Place dm_purple.pak into your Quake2/BaseQ2/.. directory.

to play Saint Pygidium with RTX textures
1. Place dm_purple.pak into your Quake2/BaseQ2/.. directory.
2. Extract dmp_textures.7z and place "textures" folder into your  Quake2RTX/BaseQ2/.. directory.

to play Saint Pygidium with items and emissive textures
1. Place dm_purple.pak into your Quake2/BaseQ2/.. directory.
2. Extract emissive.7z and copy all content of "emissive folder into your  Quake2RTX/BaseQ2/.. directory.

Wouldn't all that incredible detail slow the game down too much?

RTX will slow down your framerate, obviously.
Since this is FFA map for online play, RTX textures are just for demo playing/streaming.

Q2pro/R1Q2 version of this map with regular textures is available here:

I've play test it with 6 friends around 24 hours. Gameplay feels  smooth and totally fine.
Vanilla Q2 engine is not recommended for this map. It will crash.
R_speed on this map is around 2-3k, because of details.
YamagiQ2 render has some very minor issues with rendering textures(not critical for gameplay, you can play it, but visually, couple of textures were rendered with mistakes). 
Q2pro/R1Q2/Q2RTX are ok

And yes, you are right.
RTX textures are still work in progress, they are not included in this pak and will be shared later. I am experiencing techincal issues with RTX texures and testing a lot yet.

Gameplay features

-ramps (correct velocity + jump required)
-blood waterfall (blood column)
-blood bath (with meat grinder)
-safe spots

items:
-Invulnerability
-Quad Damage
-Church platform toggle (every 2min +/- 30sec)
-Power Screen room, gate toggle (every 2min +/- 30sec)
-BloodSpot joker (random spawner for ammo)


decorative:

-metal chains (no obstacle, just visual clutter)
