.But where you might see instant results would be when using the mouse for image editing and doing freehand art related things with a mouse. A cheap shitty inaccurate mouse is gonna detect fine movement when zoomed way in on an art project as a sawtooth kinda square matrix, whereas a mouse with better specs is gonna draw a straighter line for you. But these days, people who do lots of art related shit on computers are using these touchscreen things with stylus pens.

  I'm a little late but can you explain this a little more? My lines are decently straight, but more specifically:

I think that's Corncob, a.k.a. Cornelius a.k.a. a million corn-themed names.  He used to be a map maker in CTF if it's the same guy (he used to go by <BEER> in those days).  That's sad if this is what he does for "fun" now, cuz he used to make cool maps.  Oh well

I doubt it. Corn was a reynolds wrap hat wearing Alex Jones fan, maybe a little moreso than Jaquio. Wallhack conspiracy theories aside, I haven't heard a peep from him about GMO's or swine flu or 9/11 coverups.

My question is two parts:
 First is povohat's third party mouse accel driver okay to use in quake 2? I enjoy mouse accel and r1q2 doesn't have an option in game.
This driver also allows me to be consistent between games. Here's a link:

 Second, is there a way to work out an arrangement to change the quake 4 tastyspleen server over to regular quake 4 instead of q4max?
Reasons for asking this are as follows: This is (from what I know) the only server in Texas and a shocking majority of what left of the quake 4 community lives in south-central and west coast America.
Personally, I enjoy playing q4max, but everyone in the community either doesn't like q4max or can't figure out how to install it.

A small change over to regular quake 4 would go a long ways for many...

A good mouse made a big difference for me, but I'm a bad example for what's being discussed.

I had a bad setup for q2 almost the whole time including my mouse. My way of playing was always movement-based and tons of jumps, trick jumps etc whatever. That style was fun for me obviously else I wouldn't have went for it. But the combination of playing like that with a subpar mouse put a big dent in my accuracy. In early 2013 I bought that "deathadder 2013" and it was comparable to me going from dial up to low ping. I found myself out chaining everyone. All of the sudden I had a railgun. It was a big difference for me.

I have considered upgrading my mouse because of DPI... a concern I have is weather or not higher DPI affects the stability of the mouse.
For example, if I increase the dpi will it add acceleration? Or cause stability issues?

A question I still have though is weather or not there are really any differences in optical sensor mice?
I know DPI, driver software, and  polling rate etc., are a few differences but are there any others?
As mentioned at the beginning, I'm using a Microsoft Wheel-mouse optical 1.1a. I've tried the Razer deathadder elite (the one with a 5g optical sensor) and personally didn't notice much of a difference between the Razer deathadder and the Microsoft WMO.

Also is there any difference between optical and laser sensors in mice?

I forgot to mention I overclocked my mouse to 1000hz

It's a "good enough" mouse, I suppose I'd recommend it. But only because it's just about the only corded laser mouse you can find anymore. 10 years ago, you could find a plain old nothing fancy Logitech LS-1 laser mouse at Walmart for 20 bucks. Nobody makes plain old everyday use laser mouses anymore. They've become "gaming mouses" now, and now they charge you a premium for the motherfuckers as if they're a new high-tech form of mouse. They are absolutely NOT. However, In Razer's defense, maybe the price "could" be warranted by the unique internal design of their product. But in my opinion, their design is NOT an improvement and the old style cheaper clicker modules cost less, last just as long, and are cheaper to produce and cheaper for the retail customer. OBVIOUSLY... "cheap" or "better" isn't what Razer is after.

I've gotta agree on this.
I bought the deathadder elite a while ago and wasn't really impressed (especially for the price) I took it back to wal-mart and told them to put it up their ass.

Download the driver and control any settings through that, with any mouse.

I saw potential behind the software, but found it not satisfactory when it came to tweaking.
Anytime i changed the dpi or acceleration value the mouse became jittery or wouldn't input the change in variables.

Not a bad mouse, but I just didn't see a reason to pay a shit ton of money for when the mouse I'm currently using works fine.

Microsoft Wheel-mouse optical 1.1a overclocked at 500hz
 4.5 sensitivity
.2 accel
