Yes, mf, that was it. Actually it was because of the R1Q2 with paks. I switched to q2pro and I am so happy with it. No problems at all and it is a totally different q2 experience. Nice to be back.

Thank you for the help. But still the problem persists.

I get this report after crashing. (I tried to use software graphics to see if it is driver related...)

I found the problem. I guess it was because of the anticheat and my 2 custom paks for rocket explosions. I hope it helps another noob. Instead of kicking me from the server, it crashes. So yeah. Thank you again.

Hi guys. I don't have too much information about the crashes. I can see players playing for 3 secs and r1q2 crashes. Windows says R1Q2 has stopped working... I have windows 8, ati card. quake2.exe plays well. With r1q2 i can play single player or local.

Can you help me?

I've downloaded more than 20 paks recently. I don't know what it is called. Paks are not easy to find, 5-10 years ago they were everywhere.

Possibly. I tried many paks because I am just back to Q2, after 3-4 years. I was looking at the old websites and possibly this "spiked" problem occurred when I wanted to see the difference in the servers. I thought I still had this "spiked model" because some lovely detective-wanna-be friends keep saying that I am cheating, in the game and the forum. Yes, I couldn't connect and couldn't find the problem until I reinstalled q2 second day after I was kicked few more times. First I thought a sore loser banned my name and I tried to change it but it didn't help of course. I guess the pak I am using accidentally solved my kicking problem.

Not everyone is quake2 genius and can't tell what pak includes what by just unzipping the downloaded file. Please note that getting kicked while trying to connect and using cheat is different. I find this kind of attitude very irritating especially for a very old and limited community game. Feels like not different than CS forums filled with children.

Thank you, until that time I will stop using the pak... (possibly I will download a pak from this website, I assume they are "spiked" free.)

I will do that. My personal opinion is, server could be anticheat client only, so no one would need to talk this long. If everybody is so sensitive about cheater list, why don't you prevent it at first hand?

Ok then, I will edit the pak and remove all grenade files. Is there any way to see if the server still thinks that I am using spiked model? Any command for clients?

Thanks for the good answer Elysium.  So technically rocket explosion pak is a spike hack? Which you can see in the 2nd screenshot I added to show my video problem. I don't see any other differences except that. I only use one pack that I recently downloaded. Also fyi, where I played till today for at least 10+ years, no one considered explosion paks as cheating...

I would love to hear what spike cheat is, I don't have any idea what it does, everything feels the same when I am playing. I am using a pak which is 70mb (I don't know it's name but I've attached what the menu looks like)

 Also I found out why my fps going down when there is an explosion, I turned off "Force S3TC Texture Compression" (intel chipset mainboard desktop pc) Maybe this can help someone. In the game I am encountering this problem now (explosions again), but fps is back to normal. Screenshot:
