This went to open beta yesterday....is anybody else here trying this out?

http://www.quakelive.com/

Turns Quake into a browser plugin based on Q3 engine by the looks of it....the demo/tour looks pretty good.  Will be good to see how it plays.  I'm currently 20,000th in a queue to join the game :/

It's a free service supported by idSoftware - this may be awesome.

My son and I have been beta testing for about a month, lotsa fun. Clan arena is a blast and lots of players.

I have seen the queue as high as 54,000, there is quite a turn out for this...yeehah!
My guess is about 200,000 players have signed up by the looks of the queue in the last 36 hours. (200,000 is just a guess)

So the Dixie Chicks really have NOTHING to do with Dixie anymore. In fact, we're confident that eventually they will only be known as "The Chicks" after we get a court order for them to remove "Dixie" from their name, it's still pending litigation.

Vermont and NH seem like another country to me, and i'm in upstate NY ( I go to Vermont a lot).  Never been to NH

Why not? I am not a skier but I know there are some good ski slopes in NH.
Upstate NY is real nice. I ride my scoot up there alot, do some camping. I love riding by all the farms, I even can appreciate the smell of cow shit. Some real pretty country up there, nice place to live.

edit: gotta love the NH plate, "live free or die"

Ya that's the running joke lately.

The state when it was a Red state actually lived by that statement. Now the libs from Mass have taken it over, shit like this happens. Soon I'll have to wear a seat belt...

Ya, no shit jag.
I moved up from Taxachussetts in 95' when I bought a house in Derry and soon found out that they refered to us as Massholes..hehe, rightly so.
I moved up here for a better life without Big Brother living my life for me (or at least trying too). But I never wanted NH to change into MA like all those massholes that move up here and want everything just like in MA. Before you know it the taxes go up and we are in helmets and seat belts and hmm where did our guns go?

New Hampshire and Vermont are weird

no offence :)

Please don't even think about putting NH in the same category as VT.  VT is a nice place to visit (very scenic) but way too liberal for my liking (Taxes, ect.). Also NH would have never voted for Howard Dean, christ what an idiot he is!

NH is an ok place to live! (Live Free or Die state)

We have no state income tax.
We have no sales tax.
We have lotsa guns.
We dont cling to our religions.
We have NO helmet laws (over 18)
We have no Seat Belt laws (over 18)
We can make MOST of our own decisions without our state government telling us how we should live. (even the Dems are quite conservative)

It's still kinda like America up here, yea!!!

I had the same problem, this fixed it...  set gl_noscrap "1"  along with the set gl_hudscale "1.1"

According to r1gl config generator:
Avoid using the scrap, a texture built up of smaller textures. If you see textures 'leaking' into other textures, especially if using HUD scaling, enable this.

Quake / Re: trace route is this good or bad

Ok Mugz, I had the data center reverse the tracert back to your ip.
This was there response......

Below are your ticket details:
RE:66.165.90.2
by AoWC_DeadHeart 6/19/2008 1:51:33 PM
According to the reverse tracert we are seeing a solid 23 ping, and never leaving STL. There is nothing we can do about this tracert currently.

So I guess you should contact your isp and tell them this route is unacceptable.
11 hops to go a few miles in the same city is bullshit.
They can fix this if you make a stink. They do this shit to save money so they route you the cheapest way they can.
Like I said I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I went from NH to Michigan to Boston then Atlanta then Chi then STL. It was about 32 hops, they were able to fix from the data center but I guess this isnt the case for you...good luck bro and lemme know how you make out.

traceroute to 66.165.90.2 (66.165.90.2), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
 1  66.230.207.57 (66.230.207.57)  0.287 ms  0.270 ms  0.259 ms
 2  e17-ss1.dr6.as30217.net (84.40.24.133)  0.637 ms  0.897 ms  1.163 ms
 3  e3-1.co2.as30217.net (84.40.24.81)  0.451 ms  0.460 ms  0.570 ms
 4  te-1-4.car4.Tampa1.Level3.net (4.71.2.13)  0.573 ms  0.636 ms  0.705 ms
 5  ae-14-14.car1.Tampa1.Level3.net (4.69.133.57)  18.666 ms  18.729 ms  18.812 ms
 6  ae-2-5.bar1.Tampa1.Level3.net (4.69.133.50)  0.698 ms  0.623 ms  0.715 ms
 7  ae-6-6.ebr2.Atlanta2.Level3.net (4.69.137.114)  29.526 ms  29.642 ms  29.633 ms
 8  ae-3.ebr2.Chicago1.Level3.net (4.69.132.73)  37.898 ms  38.008 ms  37.339 ms
 9  ae-4-4.car2.StLouis1.Level3.net (4.69.132.189)  43.732 ms  43.305 ms  43.697 ms
10  Level3GigE.cybercon.com (63.208.32.186)  53.609 ms  53.406 ms  51.576 ms
11   (66.165.90.2)  97.285 ms  97.262 ms  97.235 ms

Mugz that routing is terrible seeing that you live in St. Louis and the server is in St. Louis. They are routing you to Tampa then Atlanta then Chicago then back to St. Louis.

I will contact the data center and see if they can get you a better route but you may have to contact your isp with this tracert and tell them this is unacceptable. But lemme talk to the data center first, I'll let you know.

art, music, etc. / Re: See you later, Jeff
« on: March 11, 2008, 02:31:42 PM »
Jeff used to play in alot of dives up and down the east coast. I saw him in a biker bar in Hull, Ma about 18-20 years ago. He played solo back then, just him (vocals) and his guitar.
At the time I had never heard of him before, but I was blown away that day by his performance. Funny thing was, we were at a table directly in front of him and we were wondering why he was staring at our table the whole show. We didnt realize he was blind until after the show when we were chatting with him.

Ya, he was very talented and will be missed but I am sure he will hook up with all the other great blues players in that great band in the heavens.

Trouble Shooting / Re: 32mb Ati Rage AGP Issues
« on: November 08, 2007, 02:33:22 PM »
Main issue being, when I remove my PC and set in the AGP, all I get are 5 loud beeps and a black screen. The card isnt too high tech, I meet all the requirements, my AGP aperture is set to 64mb, cards a 32mb ATI Rage, says AT1 128 PRO/ULTRA. Any help greatly appreciated.

Are you putting in an AGP card in a pc that was running onboard video prior to the the new card installation?
If so you may have to disable the onboard video in your bios. Some mobos require that, some dont.
