I'm finding it amusing that games sitting on my hard drive are being given documentaries about their cultural and technological significance in their historical context in YouTube videos. Diablo 1,Quake,2,3. The late 90s sinking out of reach,out of sight for all these youngsters. My room mates and I playing a cat and mouse death match on home made DukeNukem3d build engine maps,on dial-up!

And the joyful absurdity of coming home from a long night's work tossing boxes around, filling a bowlful of good weed as my computer boots up,and with coffee in hand,it was time to spike the caffeine with adrenaline. All the strange models,the ability to change the .wav files to anything you'd like,so each model had it's distinctive sound,often intentionally silly. I even made my own skin and it's floating out there on the server.

Remember the Toxic Monkey cartoons? The website changed names years ago and they were lost. I still pop here and read stuff,but my gaming console of choice is my smartphone, and it is also my IP,and playing Quake 2 through it is possible but pointless. I poked my head in Quaketown,and appreciated the work. But my long commute leaves me little time for it. I play some Mech game on the bus,and my favorite weapons are dual BFGs,the developers definitely copied the mechanics. So every bot I vaporize I think of you guys.
