Trouble Shooting / Re: Qoole 99 compile
« on: September 06, 2011, 01:02:41 PM »
Oh,  there is a leak SOMEWHERE.   I've found them before by building a box just outside and around the whole map and then looking for parts of it lit up.

heh,  Quark has a handy ckeck map feature that is good at showing you where the leak is.  Used that before as well.

Yes Qoole has that feature as well. As weird as it is, there was no leak. No clue why it said that. I used the same map, download a differnt QRad3, put it on my desktop and bam it worked. Its all set up now, what a frustrating week i spent on it but atleast it works. I guess thats what you get when you use an outdated program lol. Thanks for the reply reflex

Hm, everything is working now, except that I cant seem to get the lights working. I thought it might be colormap, but i have one in the pak0.pak, and i even put one in baseq2 under pics. So that must not be the problem. Its not a leak in the map, because its full bright, so something just isnt working?
I've had this issue before but cant recall how i fixed it.

===== Executing process: =====
C:\Qoole 99\bin\qbsp3.exe lights1

---- qbsp3 ----
entering C:\Quake2\baseq2\maps\lights1.map
0...2...5...7... (0)
**** leaked ****
Writing C:\Quake2\baseq2\maps\lights1.bsp
    0 seconds elapsed

===== Process Terminated =====

===== Executing process: =====
C:\Qoole 99\bin\qrad3.exe lights1

===== Process Terminated =====

===== Executing process: =====
C:\Quake2\r1q2.exe +map lights1

===== Process Terminated =====

I'm not sure why it says leaked, but there no leak in the map? I checked, and besides that, the map is full bright. Its not dark

The complaint about the GameAPI version is about the game DLL. I suspect you installed from a Quake2 3.05 original CD and that was a version that didn't support multiplayer. You need to download and install the Quake2 3.19 and 3.21 releases. This will update the game DLL to version 3 API.

Yes that was the issue. Thanks a lot, appreciate your concern

AHHHH! I think I finally figured it all out! It was the game86x.dll, I replaced the original game86x.dll with mine off the flash drive. Got it up and working! So  if anyone else has this issue (doubtful considering my program i prefer is WAY outdated :) ) feel free to contact me if you need help!

THANKS FOR THE HELP :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for all the replies!
I have fixed the issue by re-installing quake 2 straight from the original CD. I noticed that the files were not correct and as someone mentioned it should not be in the c drive for qoole.
Now when i try to compile using R1Q2 it goes to debug and errors. So since it doesn't tell me the problem i tried putting map "untitled1" in to the console on r1q2. This is the message i receive: ERROR: Game is API version 1 (not supported by this version R1Q2). Whats not supported? gamex.dll? Or is it trying to say my client is out of date? I just installed R1Q2, and ran the updater, its the newest version there is out. And when i used to make maps i could compile/test with r1q2 no problem.
Again, thanks for every ones help!!!

Have you searched the thumb drive for the map file?

No its impossible for the test map i created to be on the flash drive. I copied my old quake 2 files to a flash drive, got a new computer, then recopied them in to the c drive of my computer.
 Basically i installed Q2 without the disk.

Trouble Shooting / Qoole 99 compile
« on: September 04, 2011, 04:44:59 AM »
Hey guys. I have recently upgraded to a new computer with windows 7. I downloaded qoole 99, and I copied my quake 2 files from a flash drive to my computer. None of the files were corrupt or anything, as far as I know. When i create a map and compile, it opens quake2 and then in the console says, unable to find "map name". I checked the preferences, quake2 is set at the correct path. Also QBSP3 is set right too. I clicked export in the file drop down menu to see where it was going and it goes to the baseq2 folder like it should. I searched my entire computer for a .bsp version of my map and its just not creating one.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried just about everything I know, which isn't a lot. One thing i haven't tried was a different QBSP3, so if anyone would like to send me that please do so!

Trouble Shooting / Qoole99 problem
« on: January 28, 2011, 06:50:04 AM »
I just got a new computer, its running windows 7. I tried to download the latest version of qoole 99 and i got it download ok, and then i browsed for my quake 2 directory when it asked me to when i opened qoole, i went to the preferences and made sure that it located quake2.exe and qbsp3.exe and it did. So i made a test map, tried to compile with my parameters as quake 2 and qbsp3 and the drop down box on quake2. I tried a lot of combinations with the peremeters and still had the same problem. When i compile, it brings up quake, then it just says couldnt find "map name".bsp. I searched my computer and there was no .bsp format of the map i had made, only .qle and .map. So im not really sure how to fix this! please help! THANKS!
