Maybe this is known, I found it by accident.  There are a few places in this map where you can r-jump to the roof.  Probably not just in Xatrix, I just happened to be in Xtra.

Giving the Mooclan a bump in here.  They have resurrected the old Quake II Chaos server!

If anybody still plays this or would like to try it - this is the place to go.  I know we tried a Chaos server on Tastyspleen for a bit but the server config was pants and nobody ever fixed it.  This server has the classy settings   You start with offhand grappling hook and small amounts of ammo (eg 50 cells so you can immediately use your gravbelt, and a couple of poison/explosive arrows)

You haven't played Q2 until you've been sucked into a gravity vortex

Discussion / Can't connect to jump

For the last week or two.

I have a modified step1.wav file apparently (I assume step2-4.wav will be the same and probably a few others).  I understand these files are in pak0 or pak1.  I've never modified a pak file.  Don't really know how that's happened.  I know I've never heard any footsteps in Q2 for years though.

Anyway, have the anticheat parameters changed recently for the jump server?  Nothing's changed with my config as far as I know and I am using the latest anticheat build.

Discussion / Race

Does anybody actually play with the race feature on?  I've done it a couple of times and found it an absolute distraction haha!  But then again I don't expect to get any 1sts being only a mediocre jumper.

But for the good jumpers, do you play with race on?

n.b for non-jumpers: 'race on' will give you a green bouncy laser line (usually) in front of you.  A graphic representation of the fastest completion.  If you're slow it will escape you!
n.n.b. 'race x' where x is the (1-15) number of the player on the highscore table will let you race with them.

xatrix / Traps

I was wondering if there was a way of changing the active time of traps.

Especially on the Xatrix server where some of the maps are HUGE you can be caught in a trap and spend the next 30 seconds of your life waiting for it to expire without seeing another player.

I understand that traps are an integral part of the xatrix mod but I think lowering the active time to 15 or 20 seconds would be a great improvement.

Trouble Shooting / No Railgun Hum

I've had no railgun hum for a number of years now.  I always fail x amount of files when entering a server and sometimes it refers to the railgun hum wav file.
I'd love to fix all my bad q2 files but that would be a big job probably with the way my q2 folder has evolved over the years :/
But I want my hum back.

Any ideas how I could possibly fix this please?

Turns Quake into a browser plugin based on Q3 engine by the looks of it....the demo/tour looks pretty good.  Will be good to see how it plays.  I'm currently 20,000th in a queue to join the game :/

It's a free service supported by idSoftware - this may be awesome.
