I kinda wonder what purpose forcing anticheat would serve if you've publicly instituted broad exceptions to the rule.

It seems like in that case it would be less of a way to confirm that people are playing legit and more of an imposition on the windows 2000/xp/vista folks since they'd be required to have it no matter what client they like to use, when anyone who knows the exception to the rule and who owns a linux box can claim that they dont have any other way to play, and get away with using whatever client they want (and even wallhacking or using spiked models in a tournament as long as they're sharp enough not to make it too obvious).

If it's not forced for everyone on the basis of fairness then it would seem even more fair to just let everybody use whatever client that they feel like, since that's what the nix users will be doing.

I don't strictly find fault with your logic.

On the other hand, to date windows is where most of the hacks exist and where most of the cheating occurs, as far as we've been able to observe.  So while your logic remains valid, I think there's still some reason to prefer people use anticheat on windows.

I suspect the number of players who usually play on windows, who would switch over to a linux box for the purpose of evading anticheat for a grenade tourney, is likely pretty minimal.

I contemplated that very idea a couple years ago.  However, forcing a screenshot does cause a noticable pause in the client.

I empathize with the concerns regarding an anti-cheat. However, this tourney isn't for any stakes; with a minimum of players and is short-staffed. I cannot go through the additional task (mostly because I'm rusty with admining).

We'll check demos like we've done in the past.

Not sure about the nade tourney servers yet.  We might take over tourney1 and tourney2 for the evening.
