Crap, no wonder im such a turtle.  That is how i move.  Kind of between that and a "swing" between jumps.

And on a side note, MM's collar isnt "popped", it is a collared shirt.  Period.  Like a denim collared shirt.  No other way it would be worn save for cutting the collar off, but the late '80's punk scene is long dead, so nobody does that no more.  Flanel shirts world wide can live long lives free from worry.

yes that swing is consistent w/ circle jumping.  try strafe jumping, its alot easier and faster.  I just hold  +moveforward and +strafeleft  and jump, while keeping your mouse at a slightly right angle so you dont end up moving left.

You can't circlejump with sv_airaccelerate 1 , but you can do Quakeworld like bunnyjumps, meaning using the acceleration from turning while midair to get some speed, by letting go of the forward button and just using the strafe left/right while turning mid-air. It will give you speed as you turn corners etc opposed to strafejumping, but it's a different technique. Added a short demo I've uploaded here earlier as an example from ztn2dm2 on how to gain speed.

As for circlejumping it's a great style, The_King and audacity (RA2 player) still uses it for all moves including speedjumping around the maps, while Manip isn't as extreme but uses it for certain jumps (to mega etc). Still see a handfull people performing plain circlejumps to mega though. But actually everyone jumping to mega from armor (or most strafejumps in fact) use circlejumping, but they also strafe while doing it so it's usually called just a strafejump. But try jumping from armor to the box above ammopack without turning your mouse, it's not possible. Not sure, but I haven't found a jump that you can only strafejump to, not circlejump, so the distance gained is pretty much the same if the jump is executed perfectly. There are situations where plain circlejumps can be a nice way to set up unexpected shots as you jump or move around the map, because you're facing in a different direction than usual, so you get to work with different angles to set up your shots (running from mega towards ssg while circlejumping is a way to make your crosshair facing lower rocketlauncher while maintaining speed and direction of your movement).

Is there any way to adjust the servers settings to allow for greater forward speed movement than what is normally done now? (I'm not talking about strafing either, just the normal "run" speed to be raised)

I am a lithium player and this works on those settings. I would think they work in DM too.

and yes mangy,  I think you can set the maximum forwardspeed,   so ppl can run faster.

at least you could in q1.  Q1 also had a command limiting the maximum speed of ANYTHING.
was neat to drop that to a low figure,  shoot about 100 nails.  They all would catch in the air
next to you and move away in a group very slowly.


On circle stuff,   I spent alot of time doing things around edge with just the forward and jump
buttons,  using mouse but no straf.
Could still pull off most dbl jumps,  but for instance,  going from water-arena door to megaroom armor
off the small crates,  you launch off them actually looking toawrds the grenades and the spawn in megaroom.
