Edit the startup Icon with the following

example

c:\quake2\r1q2.exe +set vid_ref r1gl

This will start quake using the r1gl video driver, also there is a cvar in the cfg to force full screen, cannot recall it off hand but it has an obvious name. If you go into the video settings and select fullscreen it will write that to your cfg (as long as the cfg is not write prtected.

Hope that helps

Additionally, are there any other setting I should adjust when running 1920 x 1200?  Like FOV or something?

I have vid_fullscreen set to 1 and still doing the same thing.  It is odd.  In the video options in the game, it is set to fullscreen to.  All I have to do is select the r1gl drive in video options (even though it is already selected) , and it kicks in to fullscreen.  I am using the command fanny suggested as well.

hmm, make sure your configs aren't in read-only? so that it actually writes to the cfg? perhaps (if you don't already) create an autoexec.cfg and set the vid_ref r1gl and vid_fullscreen 1 in there, as q2 clients will always ready from the autoexec first.

Cool, I will try that.  A couple questions though:  If I put that in my autoexec, do I have to delete those lines from the config?  Also, does the order of commands in my config matter?

nah you don't have to, it won't make a difference really.. and nope, it doesent matter at all. here's my autoexec (it really doesent matter what order stuff is in), you can put anything in this and it'll load it first. one thing to make sure of though is that it is a .cfg file. not a .txt name autoexec.cfg

I noticed you have the same mouse as I do.  Does using the directinput make a difference?

YES!

It makes it so much smoother than standard q2 mouse..ness..

m_directinput 1 is buffered mouse input, m_directinput 2 is non buffered, m_directinput 0 is obviously normal q2.. also as far as I know it gets rid of the mouse accel problem in xp (confirm anyone?)

but it'll make your aim better for sure  :ok:!

I have a 19" wide screen monitor and SLI geforce 7800 GTX's. The monitor does 1680 X 1050 native resolution when I use R1GL and go to my video options screen in Q2 it lets me choose that resolution with full screen no problem. Once saved it allways loads that way.
