As far as NADML the admins are more than capable of handling anything being that there is a ref present for every match. HOWEVER, I myself am still leniant w/ the password being that there are some people in this community that would make a big deal about me kicking certain people, even if they were violating rules they would still blow the whole situation out of proportion and say i was abusing the password or something.. SO it would probably help if you laid down the law for everyone to see on who and when to kick/ban so when I have to do it people don't get pissy.

Anyway, this is why I no longer post about assholes, in general: too many out there, not enough toilet paper.  It isn't going to make a difference, no one's going to be nicer and anti-dick code isn't going to be written any time soon.  Just write this thread off as a way to exhale steam caused by the jerks still left in the game, we'll see another in a week or so.

Well I'll give you a scenario that seems so wrong that I'm starting to consider putting up my own server, and probably will next week. We start a game 4v4 where one of the guys shittalks all the time (normal). In the middle of the match he starts acting like a jerk and shooting his teammates on purpose. Next match teams are locked and he is not allowed to play. Comes out he has [REF] rights so the jackass spams all match long and doesnt allow others to play. Keeps joining the team durring the match, or joins and leaves the team 2-3 times within one sec. 

To top it off he follows us around the other servers when we leave just to screw with us. This in my opinion is more than necessary for and admin to revoke [REF] privelages. Do what you want, I'm just going to set up a new server and keep it free from this type of behavior.

Thanks for the heads up.  Please, if stuff like this is going on, do let me know about it as soon as possible, and what sever it took place on.  As much as the admins would like to be able to monitor all servers 24/7 we just can't.  But shoot me a PM here on the forums, or post like this, or email me at console@tastyspleen.net, whatever.

Two things:

First, if it really was someone abusing ref privelegs, of course they'd lose the ref privs.  They're likely to be banned for awhile as well, for abusing the ref password in the manner you describe.

Second, I've been made aware of a bug in OSP which allows people to join locked teams.  Someone was doing that last night, and explained that it was a server bug.  So I put this out partly to inquire whether you're sure it was a ref in the incident you reported, or possibly someone exploiting this bug?

As far as the locked-teams-join bug, there seems little hope of fixing it since OSP is a closed-source mod.  The "fix" would be to switch to some other TDM mod.


I'm sure there are solutions to be found, though.

if theres 8 ppl on server u say they all have to play, but if im 1 of the 8 and im not captain then i dont get to play. these rules are funny to me. i rejoined cause it was 4on3 because det kept rejoining so i made it 4on4.

If i wanted to jump all day long by myself on T4 does that mean no one gets to play on it all day long? gimme a break

Since there doesnt seem to be any control on the gene pool where personalities, EGO's etc are concerned then I would propose the following:

1. shut the tourney servers down for everything but scheduled matches and legitimate practice for the signed up players. or

2. post the logs (or specific date, time and server name) and demos (where appropriate) of any questionable behaviour and let the admins sort it out.

It just seems a waste (and funny as hell) that the last supporters of an old game cannot get over their own attitudes, personalities, EGO's (dont get me wrong good hearted competition and ribbing is all fine, but this "you question my reason for living" EGO crap is over the top) and all the other crap that ruins the "GAME".

Yes there are DWE's (dick with ears) on our servers and if you document the bad behaviour it will be dealt with. 9 times out of 10 though it turns out both parties had a hand in the problem so the non-instigater doesnt get everything he/she wants and gets pissed and acts just like the instigator then you have no room to complain (in my book). The good folks here have to be twice as good as the others and yeah it can be real tough sometimes to let it pass for the sake of being in the "right"

No, the rule is, if there are 8 people on the server, that all "want" to play, they can.  If you prefer 2v2, or 3v3, versus some of your friends, or specific people, make your own server, or find an empty one.  For instance, it shouldn't be, whoever is fastest at spamming the "join team x" key, gets to decide on who's playing, and who's not. 

In fact, the ability to lock teams perhaps should be taken away, I mean, that would solve the problem of people trying to call the shots on who gets to play and who doesn't.  The only time they'd need to be locked would be after the timer starts anyway.  Perhaps have teams not be able to be locked, until AFTER the match officially starts, then whoever wants to play, as long as one of the 2 teams has room, they can.
