One suggestion for next Tasty 500

All of you have good ideas for the next TS500 (if there is another). But ultimately I think it is only feisible that it stays at it's current format (at this time), as it works pretty durn good. The only thing I would try to improve at the moment is getting the voting and notification of winning map posted earlier so people who aren't familiar with it will have time to practice it and get familiar with it.

Now if there was practice sessions and stats for those practice sessions people could use them to improve there map skills and see how well there competion is doing.

But ya'll also have to remember, all these "changes" to the format also means A LOT of WORK for TS Admins.

PS. I'm also a firm believer in "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!!!"

I didn't play so I have limited voice here, but 500 frags on the same map appears to be just too much on one map. Also, having played Pygmy on and off, City64 seems to have a lot of dead zones in which no-one is there. In fact when City64 was mentioned my mind was thinking Base64 which everybody knows. Here's some thoughts:

3 rounds (3 different maps) up to 100 each. Best total of 3.
No quad, invul or 'green armor'.
The first 2 maps are known maps. The last one is brand new (or obscure).

There should be enough variety to attract more players and keep them hangin in there interest-wise. I'm thinkin maybe the middle one is all-rail. Sort of a Quake triathalon.

I heard someone suggest 5 matches of 100 frags, which may not be too bad.  the choosing of the maps will take ALOT longer though.  BUT...we could add a little bit of flavor into everything, like 1 match for each mod, 1 match old 500 style, one match xatrix style, one match railz style, one match wod style, and one wallhackers?  Dunno, gimme your ideas, so that i may feed!

I love the 500 frags.  Just look at that crazy scoreboard on the main page http://tastyspleen.net 

That's something unique.  I love all those frag counts in the hundreds.  It's badass, i say!

Agreed, it's just not right 100's.. OMG ITS THE TASTYSPLEEN - FIVE ONE HUNDREDS. Compared to the Tastyspleen - Five Hundred... doesent have the same effect!

The main format is not broke, so please don't fix it, pleeeeeaaase!!!

BUT, I've notices most of the whining (including me) came from the map that was chosen, so I do have an idea for tweeking it.

You can make 2 or 3 catigories of maps based on size. Sm, Med, Lg. Then let us vote for one map in each catigory from a list. Voting should start immediatly when signups start.
Then one week prior to actual event the voting stops but signups continue and the winning map of each catigory can be loaded and rotated on the TS500 Server. This will allow one week of practice sessions on all 3 maps.
Then one day before event 1 of the 3 appropriatly size maps can be chosen by Tastyspleen based on the number of players signed up. This will allow one final day of practice on the final map chosen.

I also have a great idea for a TS500 Best of the Best if TS in interested. Even though I probably would'nt qualify for a TS500 Best of the Best, I would still love to get to observe the Best of the Best fragging it out on my big screen TV punchin through the Surround Sound.

Since predm1 got a lot of votes last time, I guess it helped push me over the edge on adding it to vanilla.  I've wanted to add it to vanilla mymap for awhile, but its 3.7meg download always stayed my hand. 

Ah well, it's enabled now.    Hopefully it doesn't cause too much pain...
