Eh. Disagree. He'd be a fucking fool to give up his nukes, honestly. If I were him, I would NOT trust the US to protect my position sans nukes. Perhaps for political reasons the US wouldn't DIRECTLY move against him, but I imagine those duplicitous pricks in the CIA and the Pentagon wouldn't hesitate to support anti-Kim rebels with finances and hardware. I completely agree that the US can and would possibly do that. But I think that your suggesting that their possession of nukes is stopping that. I'm not so sure about that. Nukes are an insane leverage even if the scale or ratio between the two of nuclear capabilities are 100:1. Of course you don't want to ditch your ONLY saving grace. But if you have a shit economy under a dictator where most of his people despise him due to their neighbor South Korea flourishing, then it's a good deal.

Kim has been smart to hold on to his nukes thus far, but it's 2018. The 'promise' of being able to keep your leadership and change your economy from one of the worst to one of the best gets more enticing. China will still have nukes IN North Korea anyway.

I could never have imagined that Trump would be meeting with Kim Jong when i started this thread. I was under the belief that the USA would continue to isolate and keep this country contained.

Not only is this development a shock, but it is also completely terrifying, because you see that the danger is real, and that failure could result in a devastating and unbelievable war.

Meeting Kim Jong Un underscores the reality that this man and this country is a danger to other nations and to the well being of the earth. Kim Jong nuked his physical nuclear testing site to shit, and ended up triggering earthquakes in the asia-pacific.

North Korea might very well have the capability to destabilize the earth for all we know, with the nuclear weapons that they have.
What ever the reason for Trump meeting Kim Jong, all the laughs, and ridicule and amazement is fine, but i am whole heartedly rooting for donald trump to succeed and give this motherfucker security, legitimacy, bitches and hoes and anime and whatever the fuck else rocks his boat, so long as we can have a real peace and advancement of mankind.

I've hardly been a fan of Trump, and certainly not his reckless aggressive twitter tactics before these events, but this is something I think his critics, so-called allies and above all, HIMSELF could afford to learn from about diplomacy, and that is the not-so shocking fact that diplomacy isn't the rocket science politicians make it out to be. This was the time to throw the political playbook out the window and simply do what needed to be done a VERY long time ago.

When you're willing to avoid preconditions and simply treat your opponent as a fellow human being, regardless of how flawed that one may be or what has happened before, amazing things can actually happen. Of course this doesn't mean caving outright and appeasing, hardly, this is just not letting ego and old politics get in the way of addressing today's different era of problems. But nonetheless doesn't mean this is going anywhere at all yet, both parties have yet to prove they can truly make a deal that isn't one-sided, much less keep one. This was merely the "start" that was needed in order for any possibility of a real deal having a chance at all of living.
