I bought a Logitech G300 mouse. There are mice with better resolution available although this one is able to play games where as my Ben-q mouse was unable to through put that much information (which is my best mouse of the earlier optic mouse introduction -- non-usb). Resolution lower than the maximum are not ideal IMO, so resolution switching is not an effective technology.
I paid like $50-60 dollars for it shipped. I think cost is partially justified because unlike, say, my Nostromo, the buttons can be programed to keystrokes (on a windows computer) and three configurations can be retained inside the mouse itself (I use Linux). I'm not sure how obscure these keystrokes can get or if combination keystrokes or a keystroke series can be used.
The light is certainly brighter but it does not appear to be an actual "laser", just a brighter IR/led (whatever it is they use).
I choose the mouse because it is:
ambidextrous (I use the mouse in my left hand)
wired usb
does not have thumb area buttons (I press buttons at random)
has the 6 programmable buttons
relatively affordable
Logitech is know company
amongst the higher level resolution and rate devices
I don't like the mouse because
to open it for cleaning ect., the glide pads have to be peeled back
the optical sensor is off center (I used to have a Mouseman wheel mouse -- I am that cool), I thought I could do it. Its killing my pleasure experience. in the right hand... mmm
maybe
(I am righthanded) but in the left hand ewww!
the optics are fast and I even like the way my hand doesn't have to drag the mat -- but GodDamn the double click speed is bordering 450ms and buttons are terribly unstable and may induce wheel roll, I would very much prefer to have a segregate button mechanism

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
