Quick Cup - Any interest?

Anyone interested? I was thinking running a small and quick 8 man double bracket tourney. 2/3, loser and grand finals 3/5. Pick, pick, toss, toss. Small cash prize for first thru third place. The whole idea of this would be to run the tourney on one day on the weekend, lasting only 3-5 hours.

Depending who signs up, there could be another tourney for less seasoned players. Ideally that would be the best and if enough people are interested, I could picture a full bracket for both tournies. Anyway, I can post more details later, typing this all out on the phone is very trival. Please post if you are interested in playing or have feedback to give.

Also the probable mappool: q2dm1, q2rdm2, aerowalk, ptrip, ztn2dm3. 70/20/10 pay out.

tis' a good idea. use the map pool from EDL or have a vote from those maps.  i do like your selected maps though. this is exactly what quake needs

Golgo: Yes, I basically picked the most played maps in NA. The map pool is balanced to a degree when you consider. I'd prefer to drop aero for ztn2dm2 but IDK who will know that map until I have an idea of who would play in this.

Well I think golgo could do well in a novice bracket. The people picture in an only div1 (naym, haunted, vae, adren, fader, etc.), maybe not. If he wants to try and we actually have strong div1 bracket like that-why not try your luck for fun. : >

yea, i never claimed to be good at tdm. i' just don't have the timing to get the weapons and armor in a strategic advantage. 4 brackets were used for edl. i was in the last bracker but euro players seem to be good on high pings. but since there are less players in the US, i don't think there would be too much competition. interesting to see who would join up. i would if i'm not busy at the time it's scheduled.

ztn2dm2 would be more interesting whether or not the players know it why not throw that in to force people to learn some new maps? (well force new players to learn old maps)

honestly, i am fine sitting out and watching a novice only tourney

would be a good chance for people to get more 1v1 experience, and jehar might be able to cast it (should check with him) to try and raise the appeal for new players hopping into some 1v1

I think the high ping depends. I don't think most of those div4 guys we played would be good with high ping. That is just my opinion since I never played them or seen them play with a high ping disadvantage, compared to players from other divisions, and based on what skill I saw from them. That is my opinion which I admit is quite unfounded.

Vae: I think z2 would be fine for a more advanced bracket. Yes, it would be interesting to see matches for it. For a novice bracket, probably not. In fact it might be difficult to pick a map pool. I'm thinking about the guys you see playing duel all the time on the servers, who mainly play dm1. We will see though if I can generate some interest among them.

As for a stream that would be cool. I am not sure how jehar's stream situation is these days, but hopefully could provide some streaming if possible. If not, haunted has some streaming capabilities IIRC.

Vae: We should have enough players for both brackets. It will be more difficult for a novice bracket because some players don't post here or go on the IRC channels. I'll be at home later to check more details like this.

if you can get this going, I would love to get the chance to play tim in a game that "means" something once again after many failed attempts in the past..
