Linux really isn't that bad. I was using aprq2 a while ago. Up until school started again for me. Now I'm too busy to even play quake 2 all the time. I am loading Vista a lot more since it has Microsoft Office and iTunes. I am too busy studying my Chemistry and Math these days to worry about which operating system I am on. Now I play through r1q2 on Windows. But really Vae is right about Linux, it is easier to use. My only problem was that occasionally the sound would crash on me, and then the game would crash and take me back to the terminal. I hope that will get fixed some time in the future.

i think quake2 is more the prob, not linux, cause its very old. on r1q2 u can use openal for sound and this works perfect for me. u can enable it with "s_initsound 2".

Its not how old it is, its how much community is left. Quake2 compared to say Doom and Quake1, is almost gone.

That's what drives people to develop things like r1q2. As it is, it does what it needs to for the community as it is now.

why aprq2 for linux?

q2pro is a much more advanced client than almost all the others, and no anticheat doesnt mean anything in linux

go use the latest version of q2pro for awhile, mess around with the features, find the client specific commands... it is by far the most feature rich and impressive client

aprq2 has some cool stuff... but its also missing a lot of needed features... r1q2 fits needs perfectly, and so it is the client of choice for almost everyone... but it doesn't go over the top
