Rather easy in Ohio too,   my last trip took under 10 minutes.

1.  Parked in the first non-handicap spot from the building.

2.  The staff outnumbered customers 4 to 2 (There were only 2 of us :) )

3.  Showed title and signed one form.

4.  Paid cash

For ages I had gone to one spot that for some reason ALWAYS had a 45 minute wait.   Whatever number you picked was at least 30 away from where they were at that time.   Then I found one CLOSER to my house and tucked away in the back of a plaza.  They never have more that 2 people at a time in there,  love it.

I dont tell anybody it's there either,  don't want it crowded.

I was in ohio for a couple months before moving here. I never got around to getting the registration switched because the people on the phone always gave us the run around.
I.e. "You can't get registration until you redo emissions, but you can't do emissions till you redo the registration."

I probably was just calling the wrong office.

"You can't get registration until you redo emissions, but you can't do emissions till you redo the registration."

I think they just didn't know what the hell they were talking about. You must have your emissions inspection conducted in your own state. I'm pretty sure it usually must also be done in your county of residence because in some states they have higher allowable levels in rural and outlying areas than in the city. Anyway, the point is: In order to renew your tag, you have to have a current emissions inspection. Not the other way around.

Also, GA is unique on emissions in my experience. It's defined by county here where as in PA, and presumably Ohio, it's statewide.

I think any DMV is better than some of the ones in California. Even though there's like 20 people there helping, it feels like the line is never moving and it's still gonna take you 2-3 hours to get any help.

^ the key to making it through the DMV in california is to show up whenever you please, and once you navigate the hellish line that runs out the front door, and get up to the initial checkin counter where you get your number, tell them you have an appointment for 15 minutes later than the current time.

I've done this every time for 10 years now, and every single time, the person working the counter wasn't actually competent enough to check the computer system to verify this fast enough to keep the line moving, so they just took my word on it and gave me a number in the express lane.

While the person who was in front of me in line is still waiting for another hour for their number to be called, I'm done and walking out the door.

My echeck expired 3 months before I renewed,  which is fine,  it's a free test.

But NOW, my ABS is out.  I don't mind normal brakes,  but that service vehicle soon light is keeping me from doing echeck to get registration.

20 bux a month for temp tags,  till I have the 400 to fix the damned brakes.

 :(

Maybe peewee needed ohio temp tags to go thru ohio echeck to get ohio registration?

Sounds weird,  my Grandmother moved here from out of state.  Brought her car, I'll ask my dad what all they did.
Little late to help you though :)

Hehe, yeah, out where you live they don't give a rats ass if your car is blowing huge clouds of noxious black smoke all over the place. I've known a few people who owned clunker pieces of shit and lived in the metro Atlanta area while registering their vehicle and residence as being at a relatives house out in the sticks just to keep from having to buy a new vehicle that would be able to pass emissions.

There certainly are a lot of cars around here that consist of rust being held together by more rust.

Wanted to share my experience at the tag office (DMV?)

The whole trip took 30 minutes, including walking a block and a half away to park. They changed over my plate, registration and title without having to ask and fill out 3 separate forms. After the process was done, I had a 3 to 6 second waiting period for my new plate.
 :ubershock:

SCREW YOU PENNSYLVANIA! It's not a flipping hassle to register your car here.  :nana:

I'm in North Carolina, but I just wanted to throw in my feedback about the DMV.  Coming from California, you can understand how much I hated the DMV.  I moved here 5 months ago, and just recently got my driver license.  I walked in and was helped within 2 minutes of taking a number.  I failed my "written test" the first time, but passed after I studied the second time.  Who knew that passing a school bus with it's stop signs out carried more points than a hit and run or a DUI?  Anyway, having the plate office separate from the license office seems to make things more efficient.  The DMV process in California is centralized, so EVERYONE goes to the same place for all of their problems.  You could join AAA and use their "exclusive" AAA facilities but even at those there was more waiting time than out here.  One benefit of living out here I guess.  I'm getting tired of driving 50 miles to get where I need to be, but I like my house and I like not being bothered as much.  Still getting a bunch of 1-800-whatever solicitation calls at the house.
