Wouldn't we expect the top atheletes in any sport to be pushing the limits of what's possible in competition with their peers?

Perhaps like guitar playing and bass playing.  Initially bass may seem easier because it typically has fewer strings and single notes are usually played instead of chords.  But in either case, it takes maximum effort to truly master the instrument.  And at that point it makes little sense to say that what Jaco or Victor Wooten are doing on bass is "easier" than what Yngwie or Jeff Loomis are doing on guitar...

Agreed quadz. As for the spills Adam.... Aside from having done a bunch of drunk barefoot skateboarding in my day (I've had a broken toe for almost a year now from it, probably will never heal lol) I have to disagree with blading having worse falls than skating. IMO, roller bladers are able to control their falls much more than skaters can. Opposed to skateboarding, where it's much more plausible to lose total control (having the board slip out when you land.... no control where you fall). Also, but this isn't a solid point really, just off what I've seen.... Is that bladers typically wear more pads / gear than skaters. I myself have never worn a pad in my life, but when a suited up blader falls they can use their pads, and even more importantly under the right circumstances, their skates to cushion / control the fall.

Skateboarding is on another level imo.  Saying skateboarding isn't harder than "rolling" is like saying checkers is on par with chess, because you can be some kind of super master checkers player.  Chess is just on another level.  Even the vertical rolling videos has a lot less skill than skateboarding.  It's just way easier right off the bat because they are attached right to your feet.  It takes more skill to master skateboarding than rolling, and even if you push the limits on rolling, it's not the same as pushing the limits with skateboarding.

Fair enough point haunted, it's difficult to generalise I think. like, I myself and none of the guys I skate with (bar 1) wear pads or helmet, personally I feel it feels too bulky and gets in the way terribly, but lower levels of skateboarding spills look.. pathetic to say the least, most of the kids at the skatepark doing ollies up flatbanks just run off and throw their boards away in laughable rage, I appreciate that riding a handrail on a board, if you fall is going to hurt, probably more than it would on skates, but there are other instances where it would hurt significantly more on skates. im just going to stop at they're two different sports, and we'll have to agree to disagree reaper, most skateboarders I know appreciate its a different sport and that you cant (and whats the point, really) judge it in difficulty against eachother, and vice versa.

one thing is for sure, there's NOTHING more frustrating than a little gang of boarders fucking around doing shitty ollies and failed kickflips RIGHT in the middle of something everyone is trying to skate, and then when they're done they use the rails as a fucking bench.
