I remember playin on a server named "Aftershock"... It was a FFA server where fraglimit was 35 or something, i was able to finish q2dm3 in less than 1 min

. I remember being hated a lot for doing that (1 of those hatin on me was The_King lol then we became clanmates

). There was auto-respawn and all u had to do was get the inmunu thing (forgot the name) + quad + hyperblaster... and stand in front of the respawn spot near the megahealth...

Fun memories from 99-00 or something..
Then i moved to tdm... I was always a mpb (around 110-140 ping) till i met Thunderdome server. My ping was the lower i ever ping back in the day (around 80), nowadays i cant stand anything higher than 85.

I remember MaD Tdm servers too... pretty nice ping there for me...
And names... God i had a lot, here are some i remember:

Quick history of Q2 for me. Downloaded the demo in '97 I believe, right after it came out. Played it (single player only), thought it was lame, and didn't try it again till '99. In '99 AOL had a warez scene going on, and I found Quake 2 available there and gave it another shot. I was using AOL dial-up at the time, but even with 300-400 ping and horrible packet loss, multiplayer really grabbed ahold of me. I started out on a single player maps server, it was possibly called magic.net based out of the Orlando area. Through in-game conversations, I learned that having a "real" ISP could very well lower my ping and improve the game's playability by a LOT, since broadband wasn't available in the area at the time. After switching to the magic.net ISP, I now had a very-nice-for-dial-up ping of 125ms to the magic.net server. Over time I went to another Orlando area ISP (can't recall the name) that had their own quake 2 server as well, based on DM maps, then had single-channel? ISDN, DSL, then finally cable.

I've used a TON of random handles here and there over the years, but the only two I ever really stuck with were my current "Punk>FAS>", which has been the same for probably close to 8+ years now, and before that I was a number of variations of Bloodlust, {SfH}Bloodlust, {TM}.Bloodlust, Bloodlust[USA], etc. I was in a competing rail clan for a very short while, I think I was (LIK)Bloodlust then.

I started q2ing at a very young age, get up way too early, and drink way too much beer so it's hard for me to remember anything before 01, or even 02.

I can remember playing on clan heat a lot... it was an all dm3 server and this was probably my first introduction into semi-competitive gameplay in q2. This is where I learned about the invulnerability on dm3, I was a total nub..

My first dose of tdm was with clan EMR and >FAS>, on their servers. I played tdm for years on assassins gx, proxima gx, enter.net, etc etc and was a member of the q2players.org community. I 'found' tastyspleen in '05 when daelmun mentioned the community one day, and a few of us from q2p decided to make accounts once we heard of a tournament being planned here. I entered the tournament, got accused of using hax, and tastyspleen has continued to better my q2 experience ever since.

Enter.net had hookrailz team and ffa servers that I played on all the time. Also leathamans first server....Old names include Pyr0[=SR=]....but mostly just *FyA*Troll

i used playboy when i first started getting into tdm...

started out on enter.net, velocity.net, CNY rr DM server, and also sn4il's server(think it was called proximity? not sure) and occasionally i played on NYGANG's server even though they all seemed to be cheating.

Playboy, did you play any ffa at Enter or Velocity or just tdm ?

started with q1 played alot of cool q1 maps at the time. q2 came out and was cool in single player.
played online with dialup as 'jake' for about a year on any server i could get a ping better then 300 on! the nygang server was good for dialup with weapon stay and unlimited ammo! didnt have to move far lol
finally got broadband in 01 i guess what a difference! played alot of servers sister of the worthless miracle, kansas, mages, [H2O] (used the broken edge map was fun), played ffa and gx at that time took the name splisskin then [H2O]splisskin got tired of getting my ass kicked in tdm and found AW server (played takissis/reflex there many times ;-) ) and played alot of railz there.
found tastyspleen just before q2players died in 05 been playing off and on as simon, jojo, jake and few others and now mostly as newman

snail/maxior's server was proxima gx pb.. I occasionally went on Enter.net ffa but VERY occasionally...mostly just their gx server. Forgot about velocity also. I also forgot to say that I used to play on NYGANG and was the notorious guy who always "hacked" the nygang servers.... In actuality I was the first person to use the macros rcon exploit on their servers. Definitely very immature but I kinda laugh when I look back at it now, mostly laughing at myself. I would change the server name to homosexual things, set cheats 1, talk as console.. lol some of you may remember. Was like 7 years ago.

Haunted, I remember how pissed off craig would get! He'd shut the server down for awhile and kick more people than usual. He was the definition of paranoid! lol NYGANG server was a classic rofl

I started playing Quake II in about '99 on the CNY RR DM server since it was local to me and I had a 15ms ping. I've always used PyR3X. After meeting a lot of the regulars and getting into e-go wars (I was 12 or 13 lol) I started dueling people on tdm servers. Most notable were Erols, Enter.net, Assassigns, Proxima (Which I had admin to) and a few others. I was in a ton of different clans most I can't remember except o2, Valiant when it first started and a bunch of DM clans. I played on Heat and a lot of the other popular DM servers as well.

hardly ever FFA server sgt. dick. I started with gXmod because of my cousin pyr3x introduced me into it.
