Configuration file questions

So i havent played quake 2 in forever, and i hear all of these people who have there game tweaked so it runs faster, and you can do those box jumps and such, i have no idea how to do the stuff to make that work. I tried to follow a few tutorials on it, but the game didnt feel any different to me. Can anyone help? It would be sweet if somone could just send me there tweaked config file er somthin, i dont want to do anything complex just run faster and stuff. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

its beyond config, its in technique, which is style, which is skill.  so any config wont necessarilly make you better.

as since the beginning, its all in timing.
