R1Q2 single player glitch

Every time I try to use r1Q2 to play single player, a strange glitch happens: The models that are only supposed to load in the map during multiplayer show up. How do I fix this?

R1q2 sets deathmatch mode to 1 by default. Before you start a singleplayer game, in the console type: deathmatch 0

R1q2 sets deathmatch mode to 1 by default. Before you start a singleplayer game, in the console type: deathmatch 0

I've found this to be quite annoying actually. Most mappers are aware that if you create a map without any single player spawn points, then playing the map without setting deathmatch 1 will result in an error similar to "No spawn points". This is annoying. Also while mapping, most map programs do not by default set deathmatch 1 when automatically launching the game after compile. This is also annoying.

But after using R1Q2 for a while the old adage "you never know what you needed until it's gone" comes true. In general when mapping, loading an unfinished map in SP will give you the same results as loading an unfinished map in DM seeing as most maps today do not have SP support and weap stay is not on be default. Also this default deathmatch 0 setting can be changed in every map editor anyway. Also the issue of hitting the "no spawn points" glitch generally only happens when you are showing an unfinished map to someone for their opinion and that person forgot to pres f5 before loading the map. By the time you finish the map you are going to notice that you forgot an SP spawn entity and replace it. If you do not, then that's bad mapping practice and it's your own fault.

I tend to play quake 2 in single player a lot more than I forget to add SP spawns, or create an SP map with DM support. So I've often been pretty frustrated after compiling a mod several times and fanangeling with the location of the game .dll and setting up .cfg settings and placing models into their correct location and finally typing in game "modname" and any other needed settings only to find that there's yet one more annoying step that wasn't their before. This is actually why I tend to only use r1q2 for net games and always stick with the standard client for mod work and SP games.

What exactly is the problem there?   If you mean the altered gun models and stuff...  the games uses the same ones for SP and MP.


And one the spawn point thing peewee,  I know what you mean,  all of my maps have a SP start in some odd place that I use when
checking out the map while working on it..  sometimes its left in mid air somewhere :)

I think what he's referring to is the fact that there is a hyperblaster there. It isn't supposed to be there in single player.

Maybe he also is referring to the fact that the door leading out of the warehouse level doesn't open to allow you to advance to the next map unless you use the noclip cheat to walk through it.

I am referring to the fact that when I try playing a game in single player mode in R1Q2, it sets up the maps as if they were multiplayer maps, but with monsters. This is frustrating because it removes key weapons and ammo, and doesn't let you progress the game in its true fashion...

Looks like you somehow downloaded override files from the server that r1q2 loads when it finds them. Those files should not have to be in a client's game folder as they work serverside.
Take a look in your baseq2/maps folder and look for files with an override extension, eg. base2.bsp.override (or just base2 if you dont have file extensions enabled.) and remove them from your maps folder.

Just tested using latest R1Q2, SP campaign works fine with deathmatch 0 (which is what the menu sets).
