you noticed that because your pak has a flaw in which it shows your empty weapon after you switch to the blaster again. cause i was thinking the same shit. doubtful that its possible unless you modify quake2?

i think its very possible , its just making the time for it that might be the problem ppl gotta work but its an idea hopefully for the near future if we are lucky

You can also just bind a key with 'inven' but that will block your sight 

It's possible to just replace your pics/inventory.pcx with a transparent one
