Sounds pretty sweet, but I really think that altering quake to emulate Halo game play is a step backwards for the player.

Based on graphics. If halo came out at the same time as quake with the same graphical limitations, quake would be the no contest winner. Much like Doom vs. Marathon.

Nothing had changed but the graphics. Single player was shorter than any of it's predecessors and multiplayer was still filled with little preteen suburbian punks and gangster wannabes calling each other gay or faggot (bundle of sticks) in between American Idol auditions that would make Clay Aiken look straighter than a rail trail.

LOL I didn't mean to start a Halo hate thread.

I liked Halo's SP (but not enough to buy the sequels) and it certainly changed the style of SP gaming in it's own right. Quake 4 SP is awesome, but essentially it's nothing more than a better version of Halo. That being said I also think that halo deathmatch is the single worst death match ever invented. The shield was a terrible idea, the word balanced and any of halo's weapons don't belong in the same sentence, the landscape was larger than the gameplay could handle, and the amount of times in which the only effective weapon is a vehicle is an absolute joke. Halo DM is a battlefield 1942 gone retarded. Actually, including the suit design, there's not a whole lot of Halo SP that wasn't already done in Body Harvest.

But anyway I liked halo SP and I would argue that it's a significantly influential game in the history of gaming. However, the point is that Quake being second only to Doom in the history of the most influential games, modding quake into halo is like modding The Legend of Zelda into Kid Icarus.

I agree that the SP did change things. Made it more cinematic with the way it transitioned from story to gameplay within it's own engine.
