workin on pak

1. okay so im workin on my pak and i cant seem to figure out how to change my railtrail, i know u can do this with r1q2 but i want it to save so , if i see a railtrail i like on a pak and i wanna keep it what file name would that be under? 

2. if i see a monster thats got custom paint on him per say , his gun has been colored , what file would i copy into my pak to get that attribute?

3. i tend to find alot of paks that have a real bright baby blue railgun glow , when i copy v_rail , it dosent work i get the baby blue color but it isnt as bright or dosent pop as much small little details like this are hard to figure out help plz

1. Ain't this done with code? I don't know.

2. You should change the skin, usually located at: models/monsters/<monster>/skin.pcx. You can change skins with Wally or any other .pcx editor.

3. V_Rail is the weapon model, not the trail (i think).

on the 3rd one tho , ppl change the railgun color from red to blue like in the purrie pak and its really bright grows real nice , when i copy that over to mine witch is the v_rail file , its not as brilliant or the color dosent pop the same its blue but just not that bright blue im aiming at.

iv changed the railtrails before manually in consol but id like to know they make them save on paks , thx tho bud

Well, if you can change the railtrails in the console, you could also save an autoexec.cfg in your pak with that command. I'm not experienced with pak making, never made/changed paks so...

you have to edit your colormap.pcx file in the pics\ folder.

change the color that q2 uses as the railtrail to something bright.

this is the more dirty way to do it, its always better to use the console command in many new engines

anything else in that color that q2 draws (the maps, etc) will show up as the brighter color that you editted in there.

but i did try that one kitchen map , it was horribly bright rofl....hopefully not too many maps will be like that tho

some of the lower numbers in the r1q2 railtrail setting correspond to laser/xania style rail trails as well..

I don't rly like em, but some people do.
