My router bugged...?

When i try to select the Quake2 (Client + Server) on my router (so i can make a server) i get this message (see pic).
It doesn't happen with the other 200+ games listed at the service...only with Q2. Bug? Or something else...?

You got to look into the properties of that 'Quake II (Client and Server)' and point it at the quake2.exe file.  That's my guess.  Good luck.

Maybe I don't get it but do you really need to go into the router to setup a dedicated server or do you just want to open the quake2 port (27910)?  If the pc is always on you can just make a shortcut to the game exe eg. C:\Quake2\quake2.exe +set dedicated 1 +exec yourserver.cfg and you're set to go. That way people can connect to your IP. Oh and the r1q2 client is recommended, it's much safer and faster, especially for servers.

Ok then just select 'Custom Server' and fill in any name you like. Then input the port address ranges, and the internal IP address (LAN IP) of your server, then save the settings.

Note that your internal ip might be different. The range in the pic is just an example, it depends on how many different servers (mods) you want to run.

Edit: I don't have a section called 'forwarding' but 'virtual servers'. It comes with this description:


"NAT -- Virtual Servers Setup

Virtual Server allows you to direct incoming traffic from WAN side (identified by Protocol and External port) to the Internal server with private IP address on the LAN side. The Internal port is required only if the external port needs to be converted to a different port number used by the server on the LAN side.."

Yes, 'virtual servers' is where you need to go. Most routers either call it forwarding or virtual servers, comes down to the same.

Ok my server works, but it's only connectable with a server browser (gamespy, ase). How come?
