yeah, i'm metal, and i love heavy metal, but as far as hip-hop goes, here are a few of my current/all-time favorites; i listen to hip-hop mainly for the multi-syllable rhymes and hard punch lines; and yeah, most of it is gangster stuff, but NOT RADIO RAP (fuck that). oh well, didn't know if we had any hip-hop fans here besides krez
Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph - first verse by Inspectah Deck is crazy

D.I.T.C. (Diggin' in the Crates) - Day One (group with Big L, Fat Joe, Lord Finesse, Diamond D, etc)

Notorious B.I.G. - Kick in the Door

Lord Finesse feat. Big L - Yes You May (Remix) <-- old school, one of big L's first appearances

Nas - NY State of Mind

Back in my heavy pot smoking days 17-22 I use to listen to a lot of rap. I never got into anything 'new' that was coming out besides Eminem up to the Marshall Mathers album... I was pretty much living the 90s. Dre (and anyone on his albums), Snoop, D12, Eminem, Xzibit. That was pretty much the extent of my rap days.

Yeah, been there, done that. The only rap I've ever thought was particularly interesting, groundbreaking and talented was Outkast's
Stankonia
album. The rest of it is so monotonous and boring. You hear one song about having ho's and dough, you've heard 'em all.

aquemini is so much better than stankonia to me.. check it out. there were a few times where i thought i'd never listen to hip-hop again.. but at this point i'll listen to whatever puts me in a good mood. You'll never hear me say that a rapper has more talent than an established musician, ever; but i will say that there are a choice few that really stand out for one reason or another.

don't get me wrong, i'd never put a rapper in the same category as a musician talent-wise. i also used to hate all rap (99% of which i still do - don't think i can name one song after 1999 i like right now lol). but lately i've just listened to whatever makes me laugh or elevates my mood, regardless of what someone else might think of it.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
