saw this interesting tidbit in the news today, and I was kinda surprised.
I didn't know that companies sponsored events where people were encouraged to hack their systems..
Almost seems like a marketing gimmick tho, since the one who comes out on top can claim that they have the inherently safer/better/tougher OS.

these people didn't really hack the machines, they got the user to run "malicious" code through a web browser. the contest originally required a remote-exploit to win, but go figure, no one found one.
I don't think there's been a remote-exploit released for windows since the blaster worm. slammer and the likes were all application specific exploits. if I were to put my money on where one is, I'd say MAC. Windows code was probably reviewed after Blaster to no end, and linux being Open source, _lots of people are looking at the code.
of course that all depends on how you define hack, and I guess it is, but nothing is cooler than a real remote-exploit.
or maybe something close to as cool

- some really cool hardware hacks. I still prefer the remote-exploit, well.. because it's remote

Quake II is not 27 years old. I refuse to accept THAT much time has gone by.
