wacom tablet mouse clicks not working?

Hey dudes - I'm on Mac g5, quake2, and my new wacom drawing tablet ... trouble is the mouse clicks don't work in Q2!!

They work everywhere else - but I cant get quake to fire with the mouse click.

Everything is otherwise fine - if I use my old (broken) mouse the fire / click works.  And I can click anywhere else but in Quake.

I've never used a mac or a drawing tablet for games before... but:

It sounds like the mac OS recognizes a click from the tablet, but q2 doesn't.... Ouch, my brain hurts now. 

Hopefully there's a Mac fan on this forum.
