I've formatted windows and re-installed several times, but I didn't have my original cd that came w/ my laptop so I used a generic 1. I don't have the drivers for ethernet controller, network controller, O2Micro CCID SC Reader, PCI Device, SM bus Controller, Video Controller, Video controller (VGA compatible). Internet won't work so I can't get them through windows update, where should i get them?

What's the exact make & model of the laptop?
Hopefully, a bit of web searching will reveal which brand of network interface hardware is used on the laptop. Knowing that, one can usually obtain the drivers from the manufacturer's website.
...The same with the other devices... but I'd prolly start with networking...

According to:
http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Dell_Latitude_D820
It looks like your network hardware should be:
Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5752 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)
Network controller: Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection (rev 02)
Here are the ethernet drivers:
http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtreme_desktop.php
This looks like the wireless drivers:

Hope this helps,

most of the time, brand name computers will have a support page for that model that has all required drivers
if you gotto the dell site, you should be able to get everything you need

Haunted, I had a maintenance agreement with a PC rental company for several years. They rented Dells only.
Click this link and enter your service tag.

Believe me, it's not spyware, they use there own compression files for downloads.
You will find all your drivers there.

Only way I know is to either download a PC DOS boot floppy image, or to use the XP recovery console from the install disc. (But the recovery console expects to be able to log in to an actual XP installation on the hard drive.)

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
