Refreshlock

This is for Laurelin, or anybody else that wants it.  It's a program that will override the default cap of 60hz that Windows2k and XP cap by default.  Will allow you to get a higher framerate, and higher refresh rates for your monitor, to make things look smoother, and give you less eye fatigue.

It's called Refreshlock and I've attached it here.  Fairly easy to use.  Doesn't install anything, it's a standalone program.

Been trying 100 fps - it looks good so far.

Some jumps are easier to do, a few are harder. But I seem to get better movement overall.

Try 90fps, should run a lot better than 100 for jumps/movement.  And no prob =)

I get 100hz in q2 and 100fps and I have noticed as well that alot of jumps (espec double jump off somethin real small like step below ssg on dm1) seem impossible to do.  Do most people think 90 fps is the way to play?  When I kick it down to 90fps it seems like i cant do some jumps like on dm1 in mega room from YA box to the box across from mega to the light on the wall without 100fps.  Is it not possible without 100fps or more or is it just me?

Also if I run cl_maxfps 90 should I leave the refresh up at 100hz?

The jump you speak of, the one from YA box, to box that ammo pack sits on, then speed hopping to the light to the left of the mega I do easily with 90fps.  Yes, leave the refresh rate @ 100hz if your monitor supports that at the resolution you run.

Also, this program only apply's to CRT monitor's, the big types, not the flat/thin LCD types.

Its not as smooth with 90 - there seems to be some desync since refreshlock goes by 60,85,100,120 hz.

Not like I know anything about it - but it's definitly not playable for me.

ive always used 60hz for my monitor and 120 fps in q2.. i tried raising the refresh rate to 80 but the screen flickers and seems to be worse on my eyes.. i think its just how these big box monitors are

I can't seem to be able to raise the fps over 60 when I got 60hz on my monitor. Even though I set maxfps 120 - it caps at 60.

Laurelin, look in you display properties gl settings (if you have such a thing). See if your vsync is set to "always off"
