Hi everyone,
We are thinking of running a Hand-Grenade-only Tournament sometime soon. We would like to know, from the interested, what type of tournament would you like it to be.
It would be a one-night Event - probably some time in january.
Race to 250 frags: Single map, every player in it. First to 250 frags.
Heats (4plyrs): Like FFA Heats, small groups of 4 players, winner (and possibly runner-up) goes through to next round.
1on1: Direct Elimination (possibly best 2out of 3 if time allows)
Feel free to comment on the idea.
Regards,
Louis

1v1 is the only skill, any nub can stroke arm spam a hand grenade to 250 kills
Also 4-person is kinda spammy too, especially on tight spaces.
Count me in for 1v1
And for 1v1, make it like 15-20 killcount, 10 minute timelimit

I think 1v1 or heat is much better than 250 frags. 250 would take a pretty long time and with just hgs I would personally find it boring after a while.
Maybe the 1v1 should be 5 minute timelimit (best 2 out of 3)? 10 it might get boring, but just a thought...

250 frags would take 3 or 4 hours, maybe more. You can kick that idea to the curb.

Nade-only Tournament for sure. But why not run the two tournaments that get the most votes, probably 1vs1 and Nade-only? Obviously the Nade-only will be easier to plan and is less serious. With the 1vs1 you know what to expect, but Nade-only has never been done before.
On vanilla it happens a lot that someone votes a small/medium map with the +ia (infinite ammo) setting and it's actually quite easy to rack up frags with just handgrenades when it's crowded. But 250 seems a bit too much, maybe 150 or 100? Or configure the server settings so you start out with just 50 health?

Yes Panjoo definitely.
Two tournaments
First and foremost, a 1v1 double elimination with screened applicants by admins only serious tournament .
and secondly, a tournament of some form of ffa altered maps to make all weapons grenades (with or without grenade launcher) on one or more voted on maps (city1?, q2dm1?, q2dm8?) with fraglimit of only 100-200 sounds truly like great fun for all. Only problem is where and how to control the number of players ( and that there isn't really a good map for something like that).

Thanks for your input guys,
just to clarify panjoo, the 1on1 option is also nade-only, it' just a different type of tournament. All these options are nade-only.
I do like the idea of having both the Race and 1on1 - however I don't want to split participation in half, I'd rather see everyone doing one thing. So maybe what we could do is have both in the same week-end, each on a different day.
Regarding "Double Elimination", this will depend on the number of signups, Single elimination already takes more staff compared to race-to-250, so time might not allow, I could see best 2outof3 though.
I'm all for lowering 250frags to something more reasonable! It's hard to figure out how much time it'd take for someone to spam his way to 250, cos it also depends on the number of players.
I appreciate the suggestions!

Louis

You realize that us people [us naders] don't just spam; there's alot of aim involved in the toss of a hand grenade.
if we do the hueg fraglimit one, make it like 120, I usually don't hit above 200fph when i nade-only
