Newegg return policy

Tonight, mid game, my 6 month old graphics card (GF 7900GT) decided to sponaneously combust. I have no other PCI-E card so I have to resort to my backup pc - A PII 450 

I bought the card from Newegg, and naturally these things only ever happen when the company's support lines are closed. Newegg's website suggests I can get a replacement within 1 year of purchase.

Anyone have any experience with a Newegg return like this one? I would probably rather trash the card than attempt to have XFX repair it.

While we're at it. Does anyone have any tweaks to speed up q2 on a PII 450 with a GF 440MX? I've played it since the days of Voodoo 1 and don't remember it being this slow even then. Run in wireframe maybe?

What's the problem with returning it? Your warranty is expired?

Nope, I found out it's still covered by newegg's 1 year return policy. I RMA'd it today. Hopefully they will be as nice as they have been in the past.

that should run great.  I always played (when it came out ~2004ish) with an Intel MMX 200 & a VooDoo 2/3.

Yes I originally played in software mode before moving up to a Voodoo 1 @ 640x480. It ran "great" back then. However, my definition of "great" has since been spoiled. I'm used to a rig that can do 2000 fps at 1024x768. I can get 130 fps out of the P2 at 800x600, and can't seem to get to 640x480 without it just reverting to software mode.

I guess I can put up with it for now

r1q2 sepreates the server FPS from the client FPS so there's not really any advantage to going above the refresh rate any more... i think.  in college i was pretty good even with ~60fps, max.

W00T! Newegg got my 7900GT and it is discontinued, they basically told me to pick anything I wanted up to the original price of the card, or get a full refund. They just sent out a nice 7950GT with 512MB at my request as a replacement. Not bad at all considering the 7900 was 8 months old.

I finally got my replacement 7950GT.  Newegg rules once again! I will sign up for, and write a review on resellerratings.com for this one. Thanks newegg.
