My biggest problem as of late is......

    Quake II is my favorite game.  Lately during the game, my screen is in darkness, and I can barely see the pitfalls not to mention the players.  Also my whole system locks during play.  It sure is making things difficult.

In addition to what Reflex mentioned, there's also 'intensity'.

I use:

  gl_modulate 4
  intensity 3.5
  vid_gamma 0.6


MissLaura, if you're currently using quake2.exe, you might want to try r1q2.exe:

  http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/r1q2/
  http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/r1q2/download/r1q2-websetup.exe

It's possible r1q2 could be more stable on your system than quake2.exe.

turn on your monitor.

delete the config.cfg & autoexec.cfg (or just re-name them).  if you change something it's in one of those files.
