4u2map12a crashes quake

this is a major bummer as it looks like its going to be a map in the tounament.. it seems like a video error at first, with walls flickering, and within a minute quake just crashes.... any ideas would be much appreciated

hmmm a pc without a video card. how do you use it without one?

Bleach, in software mode, q2 can only render a limited number of entities and "surfaces". I believe it renders the entities 1st then the closest surfaces next. Once the max number is reached all other surfaces become "transparent" or disappear. On a large and detailed map, such as 4u2map12a, this can happen.

The good news: It's kinda like having a built-in software mode wall hack for a map.

The bad news: Crashes can and do happen. I'm not sure but i don't believe there are any commands that can help this.

I see 3 options:
1.) Play in SWmode. Hopefully you wont crash during a match. I believe the server is setup to pause a match if a client leaves.
2.) Get a hand-me-down viddy card or something. I think you can get a Geforce2 for about 20 bucks.
3.) Have 4u2map12a removed from the tourney maplist.

go radeon or go home. geforce is not what it used to be. some radeons are even cheaper than geforce

Geforce 6800's and higher match or beat Radeon's, particularly the new Geforce 7800.

and this isnt my computer, i build my own so wouldnt have anything without a vid card in my own computer

when I was younger I had a nvidia tnt and tnt2 ultra and I thought they were the shit, the colors were so much nicer than the voodoo2 & 3, then when I got older I tried geforce 1 & 2 but both of them were still real dark, so I switched to radeon, but I have yet to notice any of the cards really outperform one another, except for cheaper radeons give a slightly better fps boost than a cheap geforce
