Kindergarten Swim

So Adult swim used to be funny about 5 years ago. I mean yes Family guy is funny, but that's Fox they are simply replaying. There was a portion of time that Adult Swim would play Rocky and Bullwinkle and Popeye cartoons and I would hardly credit them with that either.

But anyway I posted a comment on their message board about how I was disapointed with their current cartoons and specifically how 2 seperate friends of mine who also used to watch adult swim several years ago have recently stopped and also, sepereatly and without knowledge of eachother, warned me not to watch the new Aqua Teen Hunger force movie based on how crappy the shows have been recently. I just wanted adult swim to know that I wasn't the only original fan they ticked off.

In the post they bleeped out the words "Sucks" and "Gay" and then deleted the post. I mean not only do the original shows suck anymore, they're message boards are for children, and they deleted my comments because they can't take the criticism.

I'm just wondering how long until they shave the heads of all their members and start handing out my orange jump suits.

I used to watch adult swim religously on Sunday night.

I got hooked by accident when on New Years eve (yes I was spending it alone with scotch) They ran a marathon of Sealab 2021, Brak and AQHF.
They were all relativley new at the time.  Sealab really hooked me.
I also liked that stupid show about the super hero family mad by the ren and stimpy guy.
Loved Mission Hill and over time became a real fan of Home Movies.
I learned to like Squidbillies, took some time though.

I hated the 12oz mouse,  pure shit.  And that stupied anime styled toon, don't remember the name, but it was making fun of a genre I know nothing about.

The Boondocks is watchable.

But like you said I don't find myself primed and ready to watch, sometimes I forget.  (I do like Frisky Dingo though)

If they return with more new episodes of "The Venture Brothers" I will not miss any of those!

I personally do not like Family Guy much.  I can watch it, and sometimes laugh, but I'm not a fan of it.  I'm really not a fan of it being part of Adult Swim.

I hated "Tom Goes to the Mayor" with a passion.  Those two guys are sometimes funny, but I hated that show, still do.

Robot Chicken is awesom, but hell, it's only like ten minutes!

Overall, I agree that they are not what they used to be.
Hopefully it's just a slump.

Over time I became a real fan of Home Movies.

I caught that show once by accident, and really liked it. It was the voices of the characters at first. You knew they were all smart but still kids and regular adults. And the humor was subtle, not scream in your face bs that I see now. It shows how good writing and good voice characters can make a good show. The animation didn't have to be anything special at all. I actually bought 3 DVDs of some of the episodes.

I first started watching Sealab, Brak Show, and the repeats of space ghost coast to coast. I would record them and watch them the next afternoon. A friend of mine told me to stop fast forwarding past home movies and then I became a fan.

My favorite scene involves Brendan and his mom sitting at the dinner table:
"Brendon, what did you just say?"
"This is good beef."
"No before that."
"This is beef?"
"No before that"
"This is good chicken"

This was a great episode, it also had a giant flower centerpiece in the middle of the table which was a great running gag.



At the time of the first 2 seasons I was not married and especially did not have any kids. I kind of whish they still played that Baby Blues show because I'm able to laugh at the jokes a lot better now.
