Punk:
A couple of my favorite Mastodon songs are Blood and Thunder, Iron Tusk, Workhorse, Elephant Man, Old Nessie, battle at sea, and emerald. Elephant man isn't really that heavy, and has a decidedly bluesy touch.

Bleach - Once upon the cross is the best deicide song ever. I really like how they used samples to reinforce the drum line.

WAR by meshuggah is an AWESOME song. Have you ever heard the song obsidian? that's a good one.

Oh, and to reply, I do like a few Brittney Spears songs, and I like Linkin Park as well.  I don't generally care for techno though, or highly electronic music.  I like most everything though, at least a song or two in most all genre's.  I'm not a big fan of rap either, but there's a few songs I find entertaining.  I don't consider that "listening" music though.

Radiohead, Sigur Ros are the kind of music I'm listening to, lately.

I did listen a lot to House, not the Cheesy Dance stuff nor the highly-electronic trance which both gets on my nerve.
I grew up listening U2 and I still like 'em. I don't mind commercial music, alternative and such.

I despise Country, Metal & Punk.

ya know, as much as i hate britney spears (although i thought her first album was ok) etc etc i still have respect others taste in music though. i believe music is what defines us as people. what you listen to shows the kind of person you are which i find quite facinating.
