Certain Video cards And Quake2

Ok, so I have this intel vidcard: Intel 845GV and when I try to run Q2 it blows!  I prolly get like 20 er 30 fps and what makes it suk worse is that its slow then normal...normal being 20 to 30 fps. Anyways I loaded up Q3 and It Totally runs it at 90 FPS on normal settings.

Does anybody know how to fix t-his or why this is?  The card is way newer than Q2.

I used to have the same problem. Q2 would run like garbage, and Q3A would run fine with the pc.
It was a Celeron 1.8GHz with 768 MB ram. Easily fast enough for q2... so I thought.

I just came to the conclusion that the integrated gfx (Intel GMA 900) is not fast enough.  I was able to get a stable fps of 60 by lowering the settings.

I have a problem with my IBM laptop when it runs Quake 2. If I start it in Open GL, Quake 2 crashes. Its a Celeron 1700 with lots of memory and an adequate ATI video card (16 Mb). When I run Everest it seems to show that the card drivers have all the necessary open-gl parameters. But it will only run in software which is just too grainy.

Well, I was able to play with a very low resolution.

well if you MUST play Q2, you're using a desktop unit, and you have 60 bucks, then this may help you:

70-90 fps in opengl at 800x600x32bit? no prob.

It should work for most FPS games that aren't brand spankin new..

Thanks for the tip Dervish, But I'll just wait till my Radeon X850 comes back Fixed or replaced hopefully all goes well

Make sure you have the following lines in your config :
