Do you mind if I offer a suggestion?  Seeing as how the "free" selection of teams is going to win this, I thought it would be for the best if another option came in second place.

I don't think everyone on here knows each other well enough to select partners in a quick way.  The process of players selecting their own teams probably could go on longer than we would like. 

I suggest that whatever option comes in second, random or high&low skill players, is the way the rest of the players who cannot find a partner, don't care who their partner is, etc. will be teamed up.

So to sum it up, the people who want to pick their teams can do so.  Everyone else will either be randomly paired up or paired up based on how well they performed in this tournament.  I think by doing this will keep everyone happy, and the tournament will get off to a much faster start.
