merc as admin (or lack thereof)

 I just wanted to post my thoughts on merc being an admin for jumpmod. I think it should be reconsidered. Merc is rude, an asshole, doesn't speak much english, and apparently doesn't have a clue how to admin a jump server, thru his lack of knowledge in attempting to fix maps. On top of that, after being on this server for at least a year, I was kicked for the very first time by Merc today. I just wonder where the good admins went? Is Merc what we will have to deal with from now on? If so, can we at least nominate another admin who speaks english as his primary language?

Yeah I agree,even though I got admin lvl 2 I was very fair,I never saw anyone complain about me.Even if someone was voted to be silenced I'd look at the reason and unsilence them,if I found it inappropriate.I would silence some if they were a nuisance,but would unsilence after a min or 2.These illiterate polish/estonian/russian people should not have admin on an english/american speaking server.For example,one time I said something like ^You need to use alot of speed to do the jump^ And one of them tore into me talking about his friend sp33d.hah.So Yeah sal you're right something needs to be done.


I suppose we will get comments from the usual thread hijackers that don't/have no clue about jumpmod/or even play quake2.

Instead of giving some rationale or logic to address this issue (I DO EVERY SINGLE TIME) I should just dictate you guys like little kids whining to a parent. WE ARE WILLING TO TAKE ACTION AGAINST ADMIN ABUSERS. POST AS MANY CONDUMPS AS YOU WANT AND CONSOLE WILL TAKE ACTION. As for you kingsize: you're an idiot. For some reason you are under the impression that fairness is when everything is going YOUR way. This is NOT fairness. The reason why there's so much friction on the jump server is because everyone has the mentality 'If I was admin, then I would do everything better'. Envying a jumpmod admin for the cmd's they have in a 10 year old game is ridiculous. I mean seriously, ya'll kill me. Practice what you preach children.

I knew he was a newbie as far as learning the commands to add/remove weapons on maps.  But up till now I'd thought he was level-headed and seemed like a nice guy.  If you can post a condump that would help.

This crap started yesterday while trying to play a map with an elevator that can be used by only 1 player at a time. Lohmatiy found it his duty to tie up that elevator so no one else could use. I don't have the condump from that, but here's the one from today. I agree, I'm no angel when you get me aggrevated and I said some things that were somewhat improper, but I'll let you all be the judge of that:

I'll be honest with you, I don't claim to have all the answers, however, I do think that an admin that can be somewhat decent and fair above all. I'll throw some names in the ring -  Kingsize,  I'll put my own name out there, because I've offered to help many times but haven't been taken up on it, so I'll offer,  ^Whizard^ would be another good nominee.
  I think it's a fair statement to make - just because you're a top 10 jumper, doesn't make you mature enough to be an admin. I would much rather have an admin with a good head on his shoulders that knows what responsibility is, than someone who can get a top 5 time every time. I don't think ability to jump and maturity to admin, go hand in hand.

BTW, I've talked to merc about tastyspleen admin policy, and I think he understands now that as an admin, he's not supposed to react to personal insults, and instead focus solely on issues that are server-related.

So merc has to abide by this rule but haunted can say what the fuck he likes?  Where's the consistency?  You can't censure merc while letting haunted behave like he does.

Perhaps I was unclear.  I wasn't reacting to merc's speech.  I was reacting to merc's kicking salamander solely on the basis of having weathered personal insults.

(Frankly, from that particular condump, the kick seemed pretty much warranted.  But admins really aren't supposed to kick for personal insults, just overall server disruption.)

If you have condumps of haunted unjustifiably kicking people, feel free to post them...
