I'de like to thank Suddenlink.net for such a wounderful game I had last night and for all the support they have shown to the online gaming community since the're purchase of Cox-internet.com.
Thanks to them I got to replace my Toshiba Modem due to it "sudden"ly being outdated, got to meet their fine support personel at my home, get charged for a modem that didn't get installed, haggle over mac addresses for my new Motorola Modem, and get to see preaty red forests in netgraphs.

I have like three cable modems you can choose from,

I don't think it is a cable modem issue.  They have a bad router somewhere or his node is simply congested. If it is bad all the time, it is a bad router.

Death do you have a DSL or FIOS alternative where you live?

I mean here I am on a tiny Island in Canada, Pinging upper 80's and 90's to TS, and actually getting less packet loss than you.

I get packet loss also, but it is less than yours with over 3X the hops. My packet loss is to be expected while you should have a an ultra clean slate.

It comes and goes. I'll be doing fine for a while, then i'll notice that i suddenly stop hitting rails and packet information seems to get to the server late, then in a flood of red lines start coming up, getting thicker and thicker. Finally it will go clear up for a while only to return a short time later. I can get DSL, but that would mean REistablishing land line phone service again.

LOL dude. That's actually my wife's background, she was and for the most part still is a huge Chyna fan. If it was my background screen, i'd have . . Umm . . Eerr . . Yaaah never mind what i'd have.

why don't you call them up, and tell them you have packet loss, and you can't have packet loss when your trying to play quake : ) .  it's nice to show them some results that indicate it's their problem, traceroutes are good, pathping is even better because it sends more packets to each hop.  you use pathping the same as tracert

Actually, it seems they fixed it. If it starts crapping out again i'll show them the pathping results.
