Names in Drop Binds

The other day I was playing on a Russian server and when my teamates dropped me weapons the message came up "Take these rockets, va.Ghost9." I don't know if this is a client-specific feature, but does anybody know the text to put in the bind to get the person's name you are looking at to show up?

Thanks to the helpful guys at the euro Q2 forums I have learned that the command is %n.
However, this may only work with R1Q2, and their recommendation was not to use it anyway because it often picks up enemy players and such instead.

Huh, that's rather interesting in a novelty way. Does it align to whoever you are pointed at? I would imagine that most people are aware enough to realize when someone's dropping them a pack though.

I think its the crosshairs but it might be based on proximity. I have loc's in my drop binds and I still have teamates run away from dropped weapons all the time, so I thought it would be good to say their name too.

yeah it doesn't work right, it was a lot like %whatever - enemy is
you could say, enemy is "at the location your crosshair is pointing too"
it didn't work, like the above has problems
for some strange reason i can type 120 wpm or more, with the number keys too.
at one point i had 1-10 for many locations on the map. enemy is here. the number keys on top so i could play too
at that point i thought i was playing to much q2 and stopped for a while : )
oh well.. i was really good at that, but not much else : P

Well now that I've switched to r1q2 I added %n's into my drop binds. It messes up every now and then, but usually it says my teammates names and they turn around to get the weapons. Seems pretty cool if you ask me.

R1Q2 has no %-variable expansions, $$loc_here and $$loc_there and the other metavars are the only things R1Q2 will expand. %n and other %x macros are usually expanded by the server.

Not really, it's bad design for it to be client side. The mod should provide such features.
