Hmmmm....maybe you don't have the IPX protocol set up. What operating system are you using?

IPX protocol is not neccesary to play Quake 2 online.  Actually I don't think Q2 uses that protocol at all, though I may be mistaken, I believe it only use TCP/IP.

most people are using ip these days , not ipx : )
if the server is coming back with a message, i don't think it's the firewall, but make sure the exe is on the list
it's not a pain for me to setup fresh installs of q2, which i do often, but it would be nice if new players knew the good link !
