Map Voting & Seeding

Thursday Night (24:00 EST), so in less than 24 hours, the Map Nominations will be closed, and a Poll will be issued so as to rank the most coveted maps. From there - Maps will be seeded according to their ranks.

Here is a brief explanation of how the 'system' behind it works. You are not required to understand nor to read this. But for those who wish to know - I will certainly not keep it hidden.


Voting

There are currently 18 nominations - Thursday Midnight - Three Polls will be posted. Titled '1st pick', '2nd pick' & '3rd pick' respectively - they will all contain the totality of Nominees as choices. Basically, you are voting for 3 maps. The 'why' of this is that one simple vote wouldn't cover half of the maps considering the fact that most votes will be regrouped in a few maps. By giving additional picks, we believe it will give more diversity, and more competitions for the running-up maps.

Given that your '1st pick' has more importance than your '2nd pick', then 3rd. There is a pointing system coming along for the maps. Pretty simple, it goes as :
1st Pick : 3pts for the Map
2nd Pick: 2pts for the Map
3rd  Pick: 1pt for the Map

When the Polls' deadlines will be reached. We will simply compile the points for the maps. Example:
q2dm3 : 5 First Pick, 2 Second Pick, 3 Third Pick.
This will give a total of 22pts for that Map.

Maps will be ranked according to their total points.


Seeding

From there - no more Polls are issued, Maps are ready to be Seeded. This point should be reached about one week before the Tourney starts - Everyone will then know what Maps will be played for which rounds & which match. And solely these maps will be rotating on the server so as to allow practice.

5 Voted Maps will be chosen, which obviously, are the Top 5 Maps of the ranking. Along with that goes the Default Map Q2DM1. First Map in Ranking will be refered as (1), and so on for the five maps (2)(3)(4)(5). Here is the Template of where will the Maps be seeded - we Assume a tournament of at least 33 players (6 Rounds) in a Single Elimination best 2 out of 3 Type.

The Criterias we aimed for the Seedings, were that the Highest Ranked Maps would be played more and would appear in the prestigious rounds. Here are the numbers of appearances for each map in the Tournament:
(1) = 4
(2) = 4
(3) = 3
(4) = 2
(5) = 2

To note that, unless we reach 48 players in the Tourney, the 1st Round will have less Games than the 2nd Round due to the fact that the former serves as a 32players evener.

i really hope these maps dont fucken suck, no one vote for rene51 that is a lousy 1v1 map

I have to disagree there banes. I love rene51 and find it to be a good 1v1 / 2v2 map. I guess it comes down to playstyle and favorite weapon. There are for instance not that many narrow spots where floor/wall-damage from Rocket Launcher would matter. Map is open and circular so its easy to get good speed around the whole map.

I agree with what you say.. but I don't think it's good for 1v1 cause the map is sorta unbalanced with weapon locations and such

I get it - Chaingun is too far from Red Armor  ;D

Perhaps Rail & Rocket are too easy to control since they're a jump away. but then again, all guns are a jump away from another. I haven't personnaly (I know some did) had a hard time to find a proper gun, even in 2v2. I'm sure the map'd be interesting in 1v1.

I think I'd have to agree with Banes and Element here....

The map seems way too open to me.  3 of the 4 spawn pads are in line-of-sight of the rail and none of them open up in the hallway with the red armor, although 1 is close to the lower shotgun.  All are located on the lowest level, except for the one near the bridge with nothing but a dead end behind it and open space in front.  Seems like if your rail is decent you'll dominate - if you get to it first.
