Just had a random thought, was wondering if anyone knows about the existence of any utilities or procedures for converting a few frames of a q2 demo into an animated .gif? What's the easiest way to do that?
Thx!

I guess I would use Keygrip to take a series of screenshots. In the 'Show Demo Server' window in Keygrip there is a "go to next block" button (I think one block is ~0.25 sec) and you can use f12 to take your screendumps. Then repeat for as many blocks you want to use. Take the images and scale them down, convert to .gif and load them into a GifAnimator program. Probably not the easiest and fastest way but it's not that hard if you have some Keygrip experience.

Beefquake dumps image files you could convert and string together. Alternately you could use a capture program such as fraps then deconvert it to images.
Certainly, playing in slow mo and taking screenshots can do it too.

Interesting.. I already had a set of screenshots taken from keygripping that I wanted to animate,...
its 4 ppl lining up for a railshot. it didnt happen. I got 2, and the guy on the end got one. But a lil
paintshop took him out... and added some names. I think its like 5 frames. taking shots in slowmo
would produce more fluid frames though.. kg frame to frame is jumpy I think.

well if you use keygrip to make the frames at a specific rate/sec you can
convert them to .gif
(I use Irfanview an awesome freeware graphics util with great batch conversion abilities)
and import them into MS Gifanimator.
(one of few quality freebies that microsofts ever released..)
you can set the # of frames/sec to the rate you selected in keygrip and
voila! an animated gif that looks sweet.
you can DL the two progs (Irfanview and MS gif animator) in this .zip:

hope this helps.
