Electric Motorcycle

Anyone think this is promising?

The only complaint that I would make is to make the model a bit bigger. It looks kinda small. Like something a 14 year old kid in high school would use :lolsign:

But other than that, looks promising.

i used to have an eectric scooter. works good for me but cant just get the hang of driving 2 wheels instead of 4. not to mention I cant bring or leave things behind and being exposed to the elements.

if it doesnt look like a two wheel prius then people might go for it...

good idea though :) need less horse power to get the same movement on something smaller like a bike, and electric cars are doing better

i think most people will just have the same issue with it that they have with all bikes... the stuff yahoo mentioned and safety concerns, and of course as far as people who already drive motor cycles, i cant imagine too many of them being green tree hugging hippies, and they will stick with their much nicer looking bikes that have a mean sound to em

The only complaint that I would make is to make the model a bit bigger. It looks kinda small. Like something a 14 year old kid in high school would use :lolsign:

But other than that, looks promising.

Exactly. Wheel spacing in relation to where the rider is positioned has EVERYTHING to do with how a bike handles. Crotch rockets have less of an angle to the front forks making them a little more touchy and responsive in turns. The way they are designed ain't just for looks. When they first showed up, they were mainly racing bikes. Weight was shifted forward to be able to handle them better under greater acceleration. Keeping the forks 90 degrees up and down in relation to the road would've made them even MORE responsive, but no one will do it that way because there isn't enough of the bike out in front of you to keep you from stoppie-flipping it if you ever have to lock the front down. That's the main problem I see with the size of this bike. The bike is far too small centerline of front wheel to centerline of rear wheel. If you put a smaller person on it, maybe it'd be okay. But for an average to large sized adult man, that's too much weight to high on that wheel stance to make it reliably safe.

Personally I don't think electric is the way to go for bikes anyway. Bikes aren't the big problem on gas. Even the big heavy cross country bikes like the Honda Goldwing or a Harley Davidson Road King all decked out with travel accessories don't use a huge amount of gasoline. They are FAR more economical on fuel than even a lot of the hybrid cars being turned out these days. Personally, I ain't gonna ride an electric cruiser anyway. Gonna be a sad sad day when the government outlaws gasoline powered internal combustion engines for transportation. I hope I'm dead and gone long before that depressing day arrives.

As far as it being a "green" product... fuck NO it ain't. Making all the parts for it is still done with the same machines that make parts for the gas burning ones. The frame is still metal, mined from the earth, which isn't usually considered a "green" process. The contents of the batteries are toxic, not to mention the fact that batteries are HEAVY AS FUCK, which is the main reason why even THIS tiny little fucking toy looking bike has such a shitty range. The video said it got something like 110 miles on a charge. Of course that figure is gonna be lower on average, probably something like 90 or 80 miles on a charge. That's 40 miles there and 40 miles back. OR... that's 80 miles there, then you wait 24 hours for it charge again, and then 80 miles back. Really? Nah, takes me less than 5 minutes to pull up to a pump, pump in a few gallons, hop back on, and keep on riding another 250 miles. Which is another drawback. I can get over 250 miles outta one tank of fuel even though it's an old late 70's Harley shovelhead motor. As far as I know, ever since the 40's and 50's, Harleys have always gotten about 40 or 50 mpg, which is something it took the car companies another 60 years and millions of dollars in research and development to achieve with these faggot (bundle of sticks) looking little hybrids they make. Oh but somebodies gonna suggest that motorcycles are what needs to go greener, huh?

I guess with a simple little flaw, can explain how shitty this thing is going to be :(

But yeah, someone that's 5'10 like me can't possibly feel comfortable riding that.

This looks pretty impressive

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EI6IhNqGCU&feature=player_embedded

I'd love a go on it but I bet it's weird going so fast on something so quiet and with no gears.
The road looks awesome too even with the oil slick  8)
