I use a Logitech Mouseman dual optical .... I also have a MX518, but im wating for my current one to die first.  The dual optical mouse is really nice tho.  Doesnt skip at all.  It is a bit heavy, but if you wanted you could get inside the mouse very easily, and remove a big piece of screwed down metal to make it lighter. Here is what the mouseman dual optical looks like:

Honestly.  I played keys only back during the dOOm days, tried to make the switch to mouse and got motionsick 
One of these days I'll have to learn to use it - I bet I'd be pretty tough then   .

i used to use the keyboard when i first played quake2
it was hard to begin with, but i do 1000% better
