Hi, my name is Slasher and im the one of the admins/'top guys' in the Q2CTF scene. I recently saw your CTF server, and it's stable with pretty good ping(50-60 for me, so im guessing you guys are hosted somewhere in the central/east of the US). The only problem is that the CTF server is running a VERY old version of L-Fire, and has many many many old settings. I'm willing to send you the latest Lfire, as well as a custom CFG (including maplists and settings all pre-done), so we can have another fully-set up CTF server. I can also send, or link, to all the CTF maps normally used(the cfg would be a bit screwed up without them . All I ask in return is if we(people in ctf community) may use the server sometimes at night for pickup games and other practicing. Anyone can come, only we usually play 5v5 so it's whoever gets first picked =).

That sounds like a good idea slasher..I like a lil ctf action and havnt been able to find a serious players latly.

ctf is always great   ive played ctf since day one but have moved on to dm

but i kinda like the standard ctf configs the best too much modification is weird. its like vanilla ctf i think the server has more ctf maps but they are currently not in rotation.   it sounds like a clan lost their server or something?  i know the ctf port has been up but it never gets that much traffic it seems its all public

Hi Slasher,

That sounds fine - after all the server's only there for people to play on.

As long as the atmosphere on the server remains reasonably friendly to newbies - I don't think we'd want it turning into an "experts only" server where beginning ctf players are shunned, derided, scorned, etc.

Currently we run only open source game mods on the server.  Is the latest L-Fire you mentioned still an open source mod?

As for the config, I'll defer to applejacks on the specific details of the settings.  He's our resident CTF suppa fr33k, and we're running the ctf server because he specifically requested it.  So hopefully mutually-agreeable settings can be found!

Well, who shall I send the updated L-Fire and configs too(you guys can re-modify themselves for your liking, but the changes i've made are basically the standard in CTF nowadays(dm flags 280084, weaponflags 1025, etc). I can also link you to a huge set of maps...but who do i send all of this stuff to so we can get this going!
