Quake2 Pak Files

Hi last night i downloaded a pak9 file. Now i cant see any items whatsoever they are just wipe blocks,..... any iidias? I had my friend send me his pak9 after i messed mine up and it did that same thing

ok when i deleted the pak9.pak it says "unable to load colormap.pcx" . Isnt there a way i can get add all the missing items?>

Reinstall Q2?

It's unlikely that a pakfile permanently modifies/deletes items from your Q2, since it usually does nothing more than temporarily override or add files.
As a test just take out *all custom* paks except for pak0 and pak1, if you still don't see the models then something else might have gone bad(?). Use a pakfile viewer like PakScape to open pak0.pak (the main pak) and check if the model files are there; check the "models/items.." folders, every model should have a skin.pcx and a tris.md2.

The original weapon-models and player-models come with the 'q2-3.20-x86-full' patch. I'd suggest extracting the files
to a temp folder and then just copy the tris.dm2 files manually from the temp 'players' directory to your own 'players' directory, instead of letting it overwrite your current Q2 stuff. If other items are also missing then the only way to get them back is to reinstall the game.

I attached the colormap.pcx, it should be placed in: ..\Quake2\baseq2\pics

Ok now lemme ask you this i dont have my quake2 disck due to me not playing in 4 years. what all should i backup prior to uninstallin? CFG,MAPS,SOUNDS,TEXTURES,Models anything else? i removed all paks cept 0 and 1 and no luck. Anyone know i link i can dl q2 from? Also after the reinstall if i use these pak again do you think ill have the same problem?

Ok i took all the files i wanted uninstalled Q2 and Reinstalled it again (now on c program files quake)(was on d) and my prevoius problems were solved but a new problem as arisen. Now it wont allow me to connect to any server just lets me clikc force connect and well we all know what happens then
